With respect to the recent bail decision https://westseattleblog.com/2013/07/bail-reduced-for-vehicular-assault-suspect-in-17thcambridge-crash#comment-1054293

How do we recall a judge, is it possible?

Do judges have a boss we as citizens can express concern with over a judges decision?

And why am I not able to easily see previous decisions by a judge during re-elections?

Something feels very wrong with this man. He seems unqualified.

ST – your flyer must be different from the one a Twitter user called to our attention some days ago, with this photo, which says “The US Department of Agriculture can help us. Let’s pool our resources and save our beloved pets.” Photo from Twitter user @KFTemple:

    https://twitter.com/KFTemple/status/353250056532537344/photo/1

We went to the neighborhood subsequently to see if the flyers were real. And flyers like that one (we took our own photo) are the only ones we saw, on multiple poles, mostly on Admiral east of Metro Market and also near the library.

I am sorry about Bee Bee; we are mourning a cat too.

Hunter, Maybe see if Puget Sound Clean Air Agency can help?

Since you’ve already tried neighbor-to-neighbor contact, that takes care of their first suggestion (unless the mediation as mentioned above could be of help).

Unfortunately, it looks as if political calls are exempt from the do not call list. But it does annoy me as well, since my phone is my cell phone and I’m paying for those calls and the calls I make to voicemail to listen to them. I do not vote based on anything that comes to me on the phone and/or in the mail.

Someone sent us a photo of the flyer and we went out to look for ourselves.

The US Agriculture Department’s WIldlife Services unit can be hired for a four-digit fee to come out and investigate killing one or more coyotes. We discovered this last year when flagged by a resident of the Seola area of south West Seattle.

Our stories were picked up by TV and turned into “There’s a coyote in West Seattle!” stories but that wasn’t the story – the Wildlife Services angle was.

This story explains a lot about how they work – no neighborhood notification, for example.

Federal coyote hunter in West Seattle: ‘Fact-finding mission,’ says boss

As I just wrote to someone who contacted us about this, we have been reporting on coyotes for more than five years. Their presence is not news. I couldn’t find evidence of any agency that counts them, so there’s no way to say “there were 10 in West Seattle 20 years ago and there are 100 now.”

The link provided above regarding Group Health’s association with the Franciscan system is nearly 20 years old… lol! GH has associations with nearly every hospital system in the state, but there are select hospitals that are preferred providers for the HMO plan, as kurly mentioned. Partnering with select facilities allows GH to better control quality and access as well as cost. I have been a GH consumer since moving to Seattle over 20 years ago and have been employed by the company for only a few years less than that.

Margaret, the three closest medical centers to you are Renton, Downtown, and Capitol Hill. If you happen to live near the south end Vashon ferry, then Tacoma or Federal Way medical centers would be reasonable alternatives. There are free parking lots at all but the Capitol Hill and Tacoma locations; street parking in Cap Hill is a pain, as someone noted. The pay parking lots in both Tacoma and Cap Hill are not expensive though—something like two dollars an hour. There is 24-hour Urgent Care (including after-hours pharmacy) at Cap Hill and Tacoma locations.

Go to the GH website and review the provider bios to help you decide who might be a good match. Group Health bases care on the medical home model, which allows your primary care provider to really spend time getting to know you and understand your health needs–the relationship is important so it’s smart for you to do your research! I have an MD at Capitol Hill but I’m happy to see a resident when I call for a same-day appointment.

go to this page and enter your laptop serial number and let me know what the cost is for the win8 recovery media for your laptop.

In the past recovery media from Toshiba has cost an avg of 25.00.

    https://support.toshiba.com/repair?orderType=SFF

    Get Recovery Media

Want a fresh start? If you need to restore your Toshiba PC software to factory fresh you can order recovery media here.

Note : Some toshiba win8 recovery media is a usb key preloaded. Not sure if that is a good idea or not but it means an .ISO image file can be made for backup

    Ken
    Participant

I can probably fix it. But toshiba should not be charging you 149 for anything but a replacement hard drive preloaded with your OOB software. (Out Of Box)

The recovery media is something they suggest you create on your own when it is new.

Once it does not boot it is probably little written about how to reload from the recovery partition that makes sense to anyone not familiar with the process.

Historically a key combo is used to boot into a recovery partition. However everything concerning windows 8 seems to be dumbed down to an absurd level. I have a couple of copies but only run it on a virtual machine since it has managed to self destruct on one machine and get eaten by previous versions of windows when used on a multiboot machine.

If you want to do a full oob recovery, then use this method. I have not tried it with a toshiba w8 machine but it should work. If you have data on the drive that you need, the you should have someone look at it and transfer the data to a usb drive using another machine or OS.

    1) Hold down the power button for 10 (ten) seconds to switch off your machine.

Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.

    2) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook.

    3) When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.

    4) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.

    5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.

    6) Select Recover to out-of-box state. Click Next again.

    7) Click Next to Start recovery.

Variations… using some models from within a booted laptop. Some detail seems missing.

    https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm#

In any case I can probably figure it out and I have dealt with toshiba’s sometimes demented tech support since the days of the t-1000.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toshiba_T1000)

I am a student at the UW doing my capstone project on electric vehicles and i’m looking for the general public’s response to a few questions. The survey should not take more the 2 minutes and can be found here:

We asked the Mariners about the fireworks earlier in the week and they weren’t even supposed to be visible from outside the stadium, so I’m hoping it wasn’t a problem for anyone over here, pet or human.

In addition to all the front line things if heaven forbid you lose a pet, such as going around the neighborhood and checking the shelters, be sure to let us know – information and, if available (but not required), photo, at editor@westseattleblog.com. Notices appear at https://westseattleblog.com/pets

We never set out to be a lost/found pet clearinghouse but it just happened over the years and some days there are several reunions through the notices here – sometimes we get the “lost dog” and “found dog” e-mail simultaneously and connect them without even posting on the site. Hoping, though, for a not-too-crazy 4th … Tracy

Might start with SDOT’s “On the Move” page:

    http://onthemove.seattle.gov/

    Then there’s SDOT’s Facebook Page:

    https://www.facebook.com/SeattleDOT

I just gave both a very quick glance, but it appears either or both may be resources for that.

I just don’t know if they release the info weeks/months ahead, or more like “This is happening this weekend”.

If you live in the city of Seattle we can work with you to find things in your home that may be making your children or family sick and suggest an action plan filled with low and no cost solutions to make your home a healthy place.

Many people can benefit from a Home Health Assessment:

People with asthma, allergies, or respiratory illness that seems worse at home.

Families with young children who may be exposed to household chemicals, lead, pesticides, dust mites and other allergens.

People who have recently moved into a new apartment or house and are experiencing more headaches or respiratory problems.

Trained Master Home Environmentalist © (MHE) volunteers use a Home Environmental Assessment List (HEAL) to help identify health hazards in your home. You and the volunteer walk through your home identifing different problem areas. There may be things you can see, like mold and mildew, and there may be things you cannot see that the volunteer can help you identify. The two of you then develop an action plan and prioritize steps you can take to create a healthier home environment, with an emphasis on low- and/or no-cost solutions. No testing or cleaning is done by the MHE volunteer. Schedule a visit today.

Preceding any answers that will come in here … There are LOTS of such opportunities and we usually publish them on the home page or in the calendar. When on the home page, https://westseattleblog.com/category/how-to-help

    is the category.

Re: community meals, not so much. But both local food banks would LOVE help – http://www.westseattlefoodbank.org and http://www.whitecenterfoodbank.org (which serves part of West Seattle as well as White Center) …

    there’s a start.

You finally opened your eyes up? I bitched about same problem over a year ago about the Junction being strewened with cigarette butts and rubbish. Here, read what I had to say about it. Its amazing how long it takes before someone else gets tired of it.There should be a thousand dollar fine for cigarette but littering. Really. Smokers don’t give a sht and what’s worse is they don’t even realize what damage they are doing to our own eco-system. The suing of big tobacco companies didn’t change a thing. So, fine the consumer too.

Hi there, WF. I don’t know what you read today, but this announcement was made several days ago. We reported it here:

Two more school-zone speed cameras planned for West Seattle

The mayor’s proposal, as we reported, includes two West Seattle schools – Roxhill Elementary and Holy Family, both on Roxbury between 35th and Delridge. As you’ll see in the comments there, an extensive discussion ensued.

There is ONE speed-zone camera currently in West Seattle, on Fauntleroy Way near Gatewood Elementary, activated last fall, as reported here:

Followup: SPD activates automated speed camera by Gatewood Elementary
