I’m sorry to hear that you were also frightened and intimidated by the man on 37th & Henderson this morning. I was walking along Henderson headed to the bus this morning and saw this man in the middle of street coming toward a woman in her car, yelling at her and throwing a rock at her car as she reversed and then drove down the alley. I called 911 immediately while the man jumped onto the front of another moving car, and confronted a woman and her young son as they got in their car. He also walked toward me asking if he was intimidating me. I don’t remember any honking, so I must have been there just before you. I didn’t feel comfortable waiting for police to arrive, but as my bus was going up 35th, I saw police headed to the scene and I received a call from police that they were with the man. They said several people had called 911. They were trying to reach the woman who had reported the man had jumped on her car. Sadly, this may have happened to several people. Please know that a lot of neighbors do care!

Was I supposed to run over him? Really? I’m going to run over a person? He had his body right in front of and on my car that I would run over him. And by the way I did drive away and the police came right as I drove about a block away. I guess I should have figured that coming to the blog would have brought out the victim blamers.

Of course I wouldn’t want anybody to intervene, but honking at me when I was in a serious situation? Maybe they did try to scare them or didn’t realize while I was in the middle of the road but to just drive by and pretend not to see? Really?

Wow, boo on the honking (unless they were trying to scare the guy or something). I’m concerned though that if it took five police officers to bring the man down, maybe it wouldn’t have turned out very well if any random passers-by tried to intervene.

Avoid Dr. Christine Recinto…she has the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered with any kind of Dr.!

Not sure if she’s in-network but Dr. Cedar Finkle-Weaver is wonderful but she’s located in Burien by the hospital.

    Hello everyone,

Well, looks like we are going to be adding a new member to our family and it’s still very early but I’d like to know if anyone has any recommendations on a good local OBGYN here in West Seattle that accepts Premera Blue Cross insurance. Preferably “in-network”. There are about 50 listed on the Premera site but getting any patient reviews is difficult so I figured I would just check with all of y’all my esteemed neighbors and see if anyone has any good suggestions or recommendations on folks to meet or any to avoid.

Thanks in advance and have a great day y’all!

I work for the Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association, and we are seeking a talented face painter and Henna artist for two family-friendly (mostly youth-oriented) events we have coming up, the Summer Kickoff on June 10th, and our Eid al-Fitr celebration on July 11th. We are looking for volunteer artists, but a small stipend may be provided if requested. Email me or reply to this post if you are interested, or know someone who would be! Thanks much!

Bonnie, what an awful ordeal for you and your daughter! I’d like to think I’d call 911. Frankly, the whole notion of West Seattle being particularly neighborly, more than other parts of the city, is, I think, a myth. West Seattle is no more neighborly than other neighborhoods. And it won’t get any better as we endure unbridled growth.

    Hi JoB-

I’m sure you’ve tried everything, but I have to mention we have had success with corn meal just in case you haven’t tried it. We generally have only one entry point into our home from their couple of ant hills in our yard, so we find that point of entry and sprinkle a small hill of corn meal, and within a few days we’re good. Orange oil never worked for us, but this does.

    Good luck!

Sugar ants in West Seattle are the great equalizer – something we can all bond over with our shared hatred and frustration. Admiral, Alki, Delridge, High Point, White Center, Arroyos, rich, poor, in bewteen, new house, old house, apartment – we all have ants. Sometimes I feel like the WS peninsula was built on an ant mound. My best methods thus far have been “Grants Kills Ants” and a vacuum cleaner (dustbuster them up, empty into toilet), as well as Clorox wipes to eradicate the scent of the trail. The Terro worked last year but hasn’t had as much of an impact this year so I switched to Grants. Also, check around electronics if you are not sure where a nest may be – they like the warmth. I had a whole nest inside of a surge strip and under a speaker.
    in solidarity!

I would be interested, but only if you had a female dog. We have two small dogs that are 11 years old. I have watched a male dog before, but they end up just marking their territory all over the house.

Is anyone interested in a couple of hours of outside work on Wednesday, June 1, from 8-10am? I have a blower truck scheduled to deliver 13 cubic yards of GroCo and we need two people to handle the hose. My husband decided it would be a good idea to break his wrist today, so he is out of commission. I will pay $40 (even if it takes us less than 2 hours). Just need someone to help keep the hose from dragging over and breaking the plants and to relay signals to the truck driver.

Julie, please look up the word “literally”. I haven’t heard of any bodies discovered that have been “shredded up”. And it’s “these”, not “these ones”.

If you prefer to enter only into discussions that are free of intellect, you should have no problem finding some. Alternatively, you and Betty could start one of your own.

I hold some pretty conservative views on certain issues, and I’m not afraid to say so. But when someone initiates a discussion with a post full of wild (unsubstantiated, inaccurate) accusations and assertions, with a healthy dose of proselytizing thrown in for good measure, and does so in a way that is not only factually but grammatically incorrect, then they’ve pretty much asked for any corrections that may come their way. Their, not there.

well, Julie…the OP was not exactly nice in her post…how can you have a conversation with anyone when they start off denigrating other posters, other people? It IS a two way street, you know.

Thanks and well said Betty. You may soon be blocked,I have been for long time periods. Most people with any conservative ideas are literally shredded up.I wish people in Seattle were nicer, but you can see some of these ones are not. I enjoy active online debates, it would be much better without the intellectual elitism.
