We live with a greenbelt in back of us (I guess it is city-owned… it is NOT private property). There are ever-increasing numbers of poplar/alders (not sure of what kind… the tall, medium-thin kind you see on picturesque farm land for wind breaks) that keep growing, multiplying and therefore blocking our view (and the many neighbors’ as well). There is no purpose for these trees; they must have just seeded there a long time ago. Is there some way to contact the city to remove them, or cut them or do we have some way we can band together as a neighborhood and cut/trim them? I don’t like needlessly cutting trees, but we did pay for a view that we are losing to these trees.

Topic: Seriously, A New Bus Stop?
Driving East on Oregon this afternoon, I came to a sudden unexpected stop, finding myself in a line of snarled traffic, trying to cross California Ave. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was as traffic backed up behind a Metro bus, further and further down Oregon. Maybe the bus broke down – maybe there was a problem with the light on California & Oregon – maybe someone was having a problem in the crosswalk. Nope! When the bus was finally able to turn right (South) onto California, I saw a new bus stop, right next to the Chase (formerly WA Mu) Bank, on Oregon. No place for the bus to pull over to pick up passengers and no way for traffic to move when the left turn lane is packed because of oncoming Westbound traffic… Seriously, Metro?
I don’t even have the words to express my thoughts and feelings about this. Actually, I do but I know I’d be censored, and rightfully so!
Topic: Housing Rental Resources
We recently moved to West Seattle from the east coast and are really falling in love with this community. Our current lease is about to expire, and we are looking for a new place to call home. While in DC, we relied on the vibrant craigslist market, but I wonder if there are other resources here in West Seattle that others could direct us towards? TIA.
I am planning to haul this to the dump but a friend asked me to please see if anyone wanted it as there are many in need. So I have left it out just in case and if it is still there tomorrow we will haul it to the dump. THANK YOU!!!

Topic: Starbucks ban
I understand not wanting “real” cigarrettes too close to the building we’ve all heard the secon hand smoke debate and dangers …. but to ban electronic cigarrettes that are perfectly safe and unobtrusive to other customers??? That’s out and out biasis… nicotine may not be healthy for it’s users but as long as they are electronically smoking and not effecting anyone else’s air space it’s their business! Nicotine is addictive sorta like ummmm CAFFINE… but it doesn’t cause cancer any more than caffine does! it’s the by products of regular cigarrettes that have the cancer causing agents. If we are going to ban people that use unhealthy products then lets start with caffine and ban regular caffinated coffee sales!!! Oh, and let’s not forget those that are carrying a few unhealthy extra pounds and the guy or gal nursing a hangover with a shot of caffine the next morning, alcohol is also unhealthy and addictive. Oh and those using caffine to stay awake… not getting enough sleep in also unhealthy… so now starbucks is a perfectly healthy business, with no smokers electronic or otherwise, no overweight or over tired customers, and best of all no caffine addicted customers……bye bye starbucks!
