West Seattle Quilters present: Friends and Family Quilters Showcase
at the Senior Center of West Seattle
Saturday September 22, 2018
1–4 pm
Free! Open to the public.

You’ve seen their yearly raffle quilt in aid of the West Seattle Senior Center, and now you can see the quilts they make the rest of the year as West Seattle Quilters present their first-ever Quilters Showcase.

More than 40 quilts will be showcased, from hand-made traditional quilts to machine-quilted modern and everything inbetween, including paper piecing and an art quilt. One large quilt is titled “Ribbons and Rosebuds…or It Should Have Been a Tablerunner.” Several Halloween-themed quilts make an appearance. A nine-year-old is the youngest quilter to show her work.

The group’s major effort each year is the raffle quilt they make to benefit the West Seattle Senior Center. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the Showcase; all money raised goes directly to the Senior Center. This year’s throw-sized raffle quilt is titled “Stained Glass,” and tickets are $1 each. The drawing will be held on Friday Sept. 28, 2018, at 8:30pm during Rainbow Bingo; need not be present to win.

In addition to their solo projects, West Seattle Quilters work together to make community-service quilts from donated fabric to give to community members in need. Some of these newer quilts will be on exhibit.

West Seattle Quilters meet at the Senior Center on the first and third Mondays of the month at 7pm to share quilting ideas and projects. Quilters of all ages, abilities, and quilting styles are welcome.
