MORE TEACHER PICKETING: This is the second of two days for Seattle Public Schools educators‘ informational pickets as their contract talks with the district go down to the wire. We photographed some picketing this morning, and others tell us they plan to be out after work this afternoon – update in the works.

POOL UPDATE: While Colman Pool (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW) is reopening post-smoke, the Seattle Parks hotline says it’s too cloudy/cool for wading pools, so those will NOT reopen today after all. Sprayparks are open, though, including Highland Park (1100 SW Cloverdale), 11 am-8 pm.

PARACHUTE STORY TIME: 11:30 am behind Neighborhood House High Point:

Please join us for outdoor story time in Commons Park with Seattle Public Library’s Children’s Librarian, Nathalie Gelms. Nathalie will read, sing, and lead activities with a parachute. WADING POOLS, INCLUDING ONE CLOSING AFTER TODAY: The city says wading pools will be open today. But in West Seattle, aside from Lincoln Park (daily through Labor Day, 11 am-8 pm, 8011 Fauntleroy Way SW), it’s the final week for most; and today is the EC Hugheswading pool’s last day (noon-7 pm, 2805 SW Holden). Also open today: Hiawatha (noon-6:30 pm, Walnut/Lander).

NATIONAL THRIFT SHOP DAY POP-UP: As previewed here and here, a former shipping container has been recycled into an example of what you can do with thrift-shop stuff, and it’s open to the public on the north lawn at Don Armeni Boat Ramp until 8 pm. (1222 Harbor SW)
