OUTAGE: Comcast/Xfinity service reported out for thousands

9:44 AM: Thanks to the multiple readers in Highland Park who have sent word of this – an Xfinity/Comcast service outage that the company says is affecting more than 2,500 customers. Let us know if it’s affecting you in other areas; we’re checking with the company.

ADDED MONDAY EVENING: We dead-ended while looking for a Comcast contact earlier but a regional spokesperson emailed us tonight to say: “We experienced an interruption today at 8:03 a.m. with our internet service in Highland Park. Our engineers began working to address the issue immediately and as of 8:44 a.m., service was restored. We apologize to those who were affected.”

On the topic of Xfinity. Those stupid door hanger flyers announcing their new Westwood location are everywhere all over the street. Maybe try an email blast next time.

I collected about 15 of the flyers lying on streets and sidewalks around Highland Park on Saturday. I took one to the Xfinity Westwood store on Monday to register disappointment. Joe, the store manager, was quite gracious. He claimed not to be aware of the flyer campaign.

When I had Comcast Business Class Internet service I could call and get a prorated refund. Not sure if that applies to Xfinity residential service. Worth a call to ask.

Comcast in Belvidere is back on.I had to power cycle my Cable Modem and my WIFI Router to get the connection back.

I’m in the Highpoint area. My home internet is working; however, my business account is still out.

Tv worked, but no wifi on phone or computer. Contacted tech by phone; they told me they had done some upgrades in the area recently and had to reset my modem. They did it remotely, it took two tries for them to get it going but it is working fine now. Love how while you are on hold to report an outage they recommend you go their webpage for help. Smh.

You guys know you have other (better) options besides comcast, right? Maybe now is the time to check those out. Are you really saving moneys by getting a free land line you don’t need?

Please enlighten us. I check other options periodically and haven’t found another one. I can’t stand Xfinity but haven’t found a comparable service speed and better customer service (most seem to have poor customer service) in South Delridge SFH.

  I’m in South Delridge. I use internet and switched from Xfinity to Century Link about 3 years ago. I’ve only had one outage. They came and fixed it ahead of schedule and gave me a refund without me asking for one. I’m happy with my decision to switch. I also think, in my situation, Century Link is a faster than Xfinity.

Wave and Century link don’t serve much of Redwood Highpoint (and even if they did, not sure the HOA/property manager would approve of the install). TMobile 5G isn’t an option yet either.
