ROAD WORK, TRAFFIC, TRANSIT: Thursday watch

6:07 AM: Welcome to Thursday, February 4th, the 318th morning without the West Seattle Bridge.

ROAD WORK & MORE

Delridge project – The SW Thistle closure continues between Delridge and 20th. Here’s the overall plan for this week.

California/Myrtle: The work was wrapping up as of late Wednesday.

Fauntleroy Way work – Today, about two weeks of utility work is scheduled to start on Fauntleroy between Alaska and Edmunds, as previewed here.

Tunnel closure – The Highway 99 tunnel is scheduled to close both ways Friday night.

CHECK TRAFFIC BEFORE YOU GO

Low Bridge: Fourth week for automated enforcement cameras, while restrictions are in effect 5 am-9 pm daily. (Here’s an update on how it’s going.) Here’s a bridge view:

West Marginal Way at Highland Park Way:

Highland Park Way/Holden – with a new left-turn signal for northbound HP Way, turning to westbound Holden:

The 5-way intersection (Spokane/West Marginal/Delridge/Chelan):

The main detour route across the Duwamish River, the 1st Avenue South Bridge (map):

The other major bridge across the river – the South Park Bridge (map). Here’s the nearest camera:

Going through South Park? Don’t speed. (Same goes for all the other detour-route neighborhoods, both the arterials and neighborhood streets!)

To check for bridges’ marine-traffic openings, see the @SDOTBridges Twitter feed.

You can view all local traffic cams here; locally relevant cameras are also shown on this WSB page.

Has the city said when, exactly, they will stop with the meaningless “warnings” for blatant law-violators, and start issuing penalties and fines for unauthorized crossings of the lower bridge?

Jort…. may I ask why you’re so focused on the way other people commute especially since you bike and you yourself are free to use the Low Bridge…. how does this affect you in anyway… how do you know that the people that are using the low bridge now aren’t authorized to do so… A lot of times in your comments you sound very hateful towards car drivers I often times wonder what your mindset is like when you’re commuting on the road with cars

Jort. Read WSB’s article. They have been getting fined the last 2 weeks. How many times have you driven across?

What Meghan Shepard of SDOT said was that warnings had been sent “the first couple weeks.” I do not know when exactly they switched from warnings to fines. If not sooner, we should hear at next week’s Task Force meeting.

Sorry, comment time is over.
