For everyone wondering about this (we’ve just answered several inquiries): We just got confirmation from the King County Sheriff’s Office that the helicopter some are seeing/hearing is Guardian 2 (a military-surplus UH-1 Huey), going back and forth to Vashon because of an all-day SWAT-team-training exercise on the island.
Thank you, WSB!!! Geeze, it is flying pretty low, and it’s loud. At least we know what the purpose is.
I thought it sounded military like, or, perhaps, it was because it was flying so low.
Just went over again, sounding like west to east, at 11:14. I first saw/heard it as I was walking home along Barton by the Salvation Army at around 10:30-ish. Couldn’t look up too long at it as I was trying to make sure I didn’t trip.
Heard it head back to the west a short time later, and just now a different sound one flew over.

I’m changing the headline to flyovers (multiple) – just heard and saw it again in the distance. Not close enough for photo/video so far. Also haven’t found a file photo of Guardian 2, but for those interested, here’s more on this type of helicopter.

Went by here too, I couldn’t get a pic despite running out the front door to try. I believe there are other aircraft involved besides G-2 but don’t have a list. – TR
