TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Wednesday on the move

(East-facing camera on the West Seattle Bridge; see other cams on the WSB Traffic page)
7:33 AM: Nothing unusual reported so far this morning commute. If you drive to/past our area’s two public high schools, you’ll notice different traffic flows today – it’s a two-hours-early-release day for WSHS, while some Chief Sealth students are starting late because it’s a testing day for two grades. Weather-wise, as you can see from the bridge camera if you haven’t been outside yet, it’s clearer than the past few mornings; forecasters expect sun later.

9:38 AM: Big response heading onto northbound I-5 for a reported rollover crash on the offramp to Highway 520.

5:37 PM: Scanner report – trouble at 8th and Roxbury again, either a crash or a stalled/broken-down vehicle in the westbound lanes.

So was the backup on the bridge at about 6:45 this morning normal? I don’t usually drive, and I don’t remember it being that clogged at that time from my driving days.

    Sorry, double post.

AE- I saw on the news this morning (Tracy Taylor) that there was an accident on NB I-5 blocking the 3 left lanes. it was maybe a little north of the West Seattle bridge? she said to avoid I-5 if possible.

so that probably impacted the bridge traffic. it was right around 6.45, before the nat’l news came on. no, not normal.

On my way to Bellevue this morning I was just past the 99 exit when an ambulance came up behind me. This was about 6:34 (KOMO traffic report was just starting.) Traffic in the I-5 exit lane was barely moving. Opted to take 4th to I-90. Saved lots of time!

Thanks! Glad to know I don’t have to leave home at 6AM on days I drive.

low bridge was also opened up. that didn’t help flows much either. sure wish those boats would just moor up until after 9am :-)

Sorry, comment time is over.
