Followup: West Seattle Soccer Club scores a crowd at The Admiral

Big game on the big screen = big success! Today’s West Seattle Soccer Club event featuring a food drive and Champions League final match screening at the Admiral Theater was “very successful,” reports WSSC’s Tim McMonigle:

Over 300 people showed up, the vast majority to watch the game, with a few watching the movie.

We had giveaways, visits from our professional women’s soccer team, the Seattle Reign and a very exciting game that was won in the last couple of minutes of the game, with Bayern Munich beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1.

We hope to make this an annual event, possibly including the World Cup next year. Thanks to all our West Seattle community for coming together to watch the game in a great venue. Looking forward to our last two weekends of our spring season (June 2, 9) and the opening of our fall registration on June 1, at westseattlesoccer.org.

Tim says more photos will be up soon on WSSC’s Facebook page.

Forgot to also say thanks to everyone who brought a donation to the West Seattle Food Bank. Both barrels were overflowing with food and generosity. Thanks!

It was great seeing so many new and familiar faces yesterday, and no other sport in the world seems to unite such diverse people. The West Seattle Soccer Club owes a huge thank you to Comcast and especially Commercial Technical Field Supervisor, George Teer. George spent many hours over several days helping assure that we could deliver the television feed and sound to the theater. Comcast DONATED all of George and the support team’s time – and provided the digital converter needed to display the images on the big screen. On that note, PLEASE continue to support the Admiral Theater by choosing to watch films there- and by attending special events hosted in the theater. There is no other venue like it in our community, so we need to help ensure its success.

I really wish we had been in town to do this. It’s such a great idea!! Thanks, WSSC, for continuing to do such an admirable job promoting soccer in our community.

Sorry, comment time is over.
