Today/tonight: Support the Water Taxi; plan the Denny site

2 major meetings on the WSB Events calendar: 1:30 pm at the King County Council Chambers, it’s the King County Ferry District public hearing we’ve been telling you about – if you can possibly break away to go voice your support for the Elliott Bay Water Taxi, it could mean a lot to the service’s future; if you can’t be there, send a WT support note to … 7 pm tonight @ Denny Middle School, it’s the next session for the Design Team plotting the Denny site’s future, once the school itself moves to a new building on the Chief Sealth campus (here’s our report on the last meeting).

I strongly support posting a few clear and prominent signs on the downtown side of the route so that tourists and other first-time users can readily locate the water taxi dock. One out-of-town friend of mine, who used to live in Seattle and knows her way around the waterfront, wasted about 15 minutes trying to find the water taxi dock even after she found the correct pier. Not one immediate passersby could tell where the water taxi docked and two information booth attendants in the main ferry terminal were equally stumped.

Sorry, comment time is over.
