Beach Drive-area coyote sighting

From Steve:

Around 10 am today saw the most beautiful (and large) coyote in the greenbelt just east of the 3700 block of 58th Ave SW and Chilberg Pl SW. Really stunning animal – it looked at me rather nervously from about 100 feet away. I grabbed my camera but by the time I returned (maybe two minutes) he was gone.

Here’s a map.

About a week ago, in broad daylight, I saw a beautiful coyote at an entrance to Schmitz park…49th street area. Wow.

We were actually surprised to see a coyote running down 48th(Around Dawson and Juneau on Sunday night on our way home from Endolyne Joe’s. He was clipping along at about 20 mph! right down the sidewalk. We’ve been is WS for only 2 1/2 years. Are sightings frequent?

I saw a beautiful coyote crossing California on Monday night, a bit south of Morgan Junction near Webster.

Jim, we’re hearing more of them lately, although it’s hard to say whether that’s just because we’re mentioning them, so people are reporting them, whereas previously they would have just told their friends/family and that’s it. Personally – we’d love to see one – 17 years in West Seattle, near greenbelts, but no coyote sightings.

They are beautiful but also usually hungry. Keep your pets indoors at night!
