As a Hurricane Andrew survivor, I know that you’re on your own after a major natural disaster. Be prepared to survive on your own for at least 3 days. Don’t count on the government to come to your rescue. We could be cut off here from a lot of help because of the bridges. We should be learning what we can do to be prepared.

The most awe-inspiring and scary of the simulations of a tsunami’s impact on this area is at http://nctr.pmel.noaa.gov/animations/seattle_cap.qt
It is a bit big – 18 MB, and you will need to be able to watch quick-time. This shows a computer model of what would happen after a M7.3 earthquake on the Seattle fault. This fault is right underneath West Seattle.

Sorry, comment time is over.
