Mystery motorcade

We’ve received a few notes about this and happened to see it ourselves (but couldn’t whip out the camera fast enough) — massive police motorcade along Alki about an hour ago, motorcycles as well as cars — will let you know if/when we find out what that was all about!

    Motorcade for Robin Williams?
    or…
    Blake?
    :-)

Isn’t this part of their “Click It or Ticket” campaign. I think the P-I or Times had a piece on this effort earlier this week. As I recall, they – the various police departments – were going to have a massive (MASSIVE) presence on Alki this weekend.

Chas, this was a very organized, orderly group of bikes/cars/minivan, and it was almost like they were appearing in a parade, with blocking and stopping of traffic. It wasn’t really patrolling in nature at all.

It was an incredibly odd thing to be stuck in front of my apartment on Alki in a police motorcycle traffic jam while on my way to work at 9:30 on a random Thursday morning.

It was yesterday, too. A friend coming over from Ballard passed 10 motorcycle cops on the West Seattle Bridge, then when we were having lunch at Yummy Teriyaki there were at least 7 motorcycle cops in there. I think they are just ramping up their presence for the Memorial Day holiday and also probably for the new click it or ticket campaign.

Sorry, comment time is over.
