One day only at the …

… no, not Bon Marche (does that old jingle still ring in your head? does in ours) but rather, Thriftway. Our curiosity was piqued by a checkstand sign at Morgan Junction Thriftway saying “13-Hour Sale” this Friday (the 13th, of course), 8 am-9 pm. The checker told us to check the forthcoming flyer; it’s online now, with the “13-Hour Sale” items on the last three pages. Nothing looks really outrageously deal-riffic to us, except maybe the 88-cent bread, but judge for yourself.

Ha! A sale at Thriftway…funny. I think we need to picket the place. Boycott Thriftway Price-Gouging NOW. Who’s with me?

Actually, these prices are deal-a-riffic for Thriftway. And some are pretty good for any store. Note that all the beef is from Misty Isle which is a quality, low chemical, etc producer. Free range chicken for $1.29.

I would say it might be worth popping by on Friday and buying some flank steak or wild coho for $7.99, a couple of loaves of the La Brea bread for 2/$3, some quality produce, and a couple of bottles of Guigal Cotes du Rhone for $11.88. Then invite friends over and celebrate.

Flapjack–Thriftway is way too pricey to shop regularly unless you are well to do. But what they do, they do well. There are plenty of people in Seattle who will shop there. I don’t unless I want something special.

…seriously, I will NEVER boycott Thriftway, yeah they’re expensive, but that beer selection is the best in West Seattle!

I do think they are expensive. You can get the same stuff ( I mean same stuff) at QFC or Fred Meyer at 60-70% the price. I sh*t you not!

The 24 pk of water is a good deal… even cheaper then Safeway (who by the way removed a whole row of bottle in the case of “Refreshe”, but still charges the same price per case!).

PCC is cheaper than Thriftway and they have all the special stuff I need (and a good beer selection). They’re a longer drive, but I’ll drive the extra mile

Are some of you confusing the “Admiral” Thriftway and the Morgan Junction “West Seattle Thriftway”? While neither may be as cheap as the bigger chains, West Seattle Thriftway isn’t as pricey as Admiral.

Admiral is the one with the best beer selection. I may not buy there with their prices, but I can (and do) look and drool….

Those little pizzas for 50 cents is a hell of a deal. If you’re into that. I used to be, but not anymore. Except sometimes.

Yeah and with the bigger chains you get that nifty card that lets them know what you like to buy and provides a “discount”. Nevermind that Thriftway is locally owned and gives back to the community.

Sorry, comment time is over.
