Election 2011

  1. It amazes me how many flavors of Democrat are running in King County and in the City of Seattle Elections. I tried to vote for the Democrat who would do the least amount of damage.

I think we Republicans are going to have to start finding candidates, just so that people have more of a choice.

But I did like meeting Bobby Forch. For a Democrat, I like him. I hope my vote doesn't hurt his chances.

I am voting For the tunnel. Something needs to be done and McGinn...well, at least we knew what Nickels basically stood for.

well, at least we knew what Nickels basically stood for.

sure. he stood for whatever martin selig told him to stand for.

mcginn stands for seattle. all of it. not just the rich players.

so.. would being a republican make a non-partisan candidate more viable? I don't think so.

the whole purpose of non-partisan is to concentrate on the actual function of the office instead of partisan politics...

at least that was the rationalization when the state republican party thought they could float more candidates that way ;->

today we had the opportunity to make a substantive change in the school board.

i hope i wasn't the only Seattle voter who noticed.

Oh oh; I like Forch too (and both of the left of liberal Charlabob's voted for him.) I don't know what this means for the future of the republic, Rich, but it should be amusing to find out.

caaareful, rich. you rubbed elbows with a socialist - and you liked it.

well, rest easy, rich. big money's agenda is safe in the hands of the incumbents. and, as they say, the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

I know I'm going to be raked over the coals for admitting this, but I didn't vote. First time in twenty years or more. I filled out the ballot as best I could, given the fact that I could not make sense of Ref. 1 - no matter how I tried. Then, as I searched for a stamp, I realized that the stamp meant more to me than any candidate on the ballot. I don't give a rat's ass about a single one of them, nor do I believe that any of them can or will make any difference whatsoever. I'm burned out.

i think that sentiment is going around, anonyme. i chalk it up to the internet being good for democracy, because staying informed and forming opinions about the issues that affect you takes a lot of time and thought. and there's more information out there today than at any other time in our history.

unfortunately - and maybe precisely because of easy access to information by the general public - there are more interested players, people with axes to grind, and nefarious forces obfuscating the issues than at any other time in our history, too.

  8. anonyme..

    i can relate
we voted at the last minute ourselves..
and more out of duty than passion

but at a time when there is such a strong move to undermine the actual democratic process...
    duty matters:(

there are people who are counting on voter fatigue to win ...

give yourself a break on this one

but pull those boots and cape out of the closet and dust them off
it's going to take more than a few ordinary citizens becoming superheros to save our democracy this time

from a recent Mother Jones article linked in the Bachmann thread..
michelle (and her group of neo-conservative i am only a good old tea bagger boy cronies)
    doesn't change the law..
    she changes the environment

literally as well as figuratively :(
