Out of the WSB inbox a little while ago, from Kara, a car break-in report that ends with a tip we haven’t heard before – read on:

My car was just broken into tonight [Sunday] and the thieves took off with my face plate and caused some pricey damage to my door and center console. They did not actually get the stereo. The incident took place on 20th Ave Sw and Thistle just off of Delridge [map]. Luckily, my neighbor heard the noises and chased the dimwits off before they caused any more damage. Can’t thank them enough for that. No one got a good look at them but what we do know is that it is 3 males with poofy jackets and hoodies that took off in separate directions. Just wanted to let you know so that we can make sure everyone stays alert and keeps their cars parked in well-lit areas.
Also, the police gave me a good tip. After a car prowl incident that has just recently happened, stay as far from the car as possible so the K-9 unit can get a good smell. That includes standing around the doors looking for damage. Hopefully, all the pressure that these thieves get from all the posts and the block watches popping up, they will switch careers to something more productive.
Don’t have a block watch yet? Maybe you want to start organizing the neighbors by planning a block party for Night Out, which is coming up Tuesday, August 4 – deadline to register your party, so you can close the street, is July 31; here’s the place to start.
