More beverages at the beach
September 17, 2007 at 12:29 pm | In WS beverages | 4 CommentsNew WS liquor-license filing that just bubbled up: Pioneer Coffee Roasting Company is seeking a beer/wine license for 2536 Alki, the onetime Alki Mail & Dispatch building between Coastal & Slices. (Hard to see from the angle below, but there’s a Pioneer Coffee sign in the window closest to the plywood.)

We have notes out to Pioneer and to property owner Tom Lin to ask what they can tell us about what’s planned there; the city business license for Pioneer Coffee Roasting at the address is under the category “miscellaneous food stores.”

Mr. Lin told us this was going to be a cafe by day, wine bar by night.

I remember Mr. Lin tellng us residents that this would be a convenience store. Does anyone else remember this? I think it was discussed on the Alki Beach Community Yahoo message board, and it also may have come up at an Alki CC meeting. I recall Mr. Lin saying they would remodel the Alki Mail and Dispatch building and put in a convenience store. What happened? Mr. Lin already owns 2 establishments serving alcohol on Alki and there are tons (20+) restaurants serving alcohol or coffee as well. I was so looking forward to having a store on Alki again…

Yes, I remember that too!!! I was thinking he should call it Conrad’s… (40+years ago it was a grocery store called Conrad’s)… also, I was looking forward to having a store here again.
