    Hi knitters, et al:

This is directed mainly at those of you who come occasionally to our group at Uptown Espresso. We are meeting the next two Tuesdays at Uptown (instead of Thursdays) due to Christmas and New Years. We have an email list now too so if you want to be on it, let me know. I’m going to verify with Uptown that they’ll be open and I’ll post here when I know for sure.

And for those of you who are insanely bored…quit yer bitchin’ and come learn to knit!

    :)

Yes! I’m blocking some goodies as I type….

Ellen, I saw your Coco on the front page. Now that you’re a celebrity, will you still be the same Ellen at WSN???

I’m definitely wanting to get up there and join you all. I’ve got a crochet project underway that’s really stinkin cool, and I’d love to come hang out with other yarn nerds. :-)

I may show up, if I can get to the junction. I have one last scarf I need to finish before Xmas. Plus, it would be good to see some faces other than my own and the BF’s. ;)

Hi guys. I still don’t have the details for tomorrow worked out but I’ll post as soon as I do. katydid and Semele, you’re added on the group list. We usually meet on Thursdays at Uptown Espresso from 7-9pm. I’ll send out a group email either tonight or tomorrow AM.

Traci, COCO is famous. I am just her lowly manager. She has requested that in exchange for pawprints that you please send raw bacon.

Semele, all you need to get started is needles and yarn. These are available at Seattle Yarn. Tell them you’re new and that you need a beginner’s project. It’s really easy! If you are feeling shy about going to the yarn shop alone, I can go with you. Or any of us can. I go at least twice a week. Knitting is really fun and satisfying. Also, we have a great group. You just show up when you feel like it. Some people come every week and others come occasionally.

    News soon.

    Cheers,

    Ellen

Please add me to your email list too – charlarma at gmail dot com. I may be there Tuesday or I may be there in April — depending on the weather. My Goal: Learn to cast on so I can do it without looking up directions every time and create something besides a scarf :-)

Traci, me too! I’m waiting til I can make that alpaca bolero thingie.

Semele (that’s a great user name, is that your real name, too?), the needlers group indeed is super fun, and we (I think I can speak for others in this case) look forward to meeting you.

I, too, can accompany people to the yarn shop most eves and weekends. I live mere seconds away from it, and that one small blessing has made a huge difference in my sanity these past few days. :)

Edited to add: but, Semele, you would be just fine going to Seattle Yarn alone any time, because they all are amazing there. Rave for Seattle Yarn!!

    yes, Seattle yarn is AWESOME.

    …balls interlude…

I am trying to email you all but my address book is upstairs and I am having trouble syncing the MacBook with my address book and it’s very cold up there. Soon I will be one of those people from Wall-E who have to wheel around in their chairs and cannot walk anymore. Did I mention it’s COLD up there?!

    …another balls interlude…

OK, I guess I’ll go up. If i don’t get some time with the knitters my sanity level is going to drop to critical.

…and one last time just for Traci…BaLLs :)

    Els, bring your socks.

    Hi Needlers,

There is a change of plans for the meeting place this week. Our normal meet-up spot is likely to close at 5:00pm, so I have volunteered to host the Tuesday evening get together at my house.

Ellen will be sending out an e-mail to the group sometime soon with my address info. Please pm me if you are not on Ellen’s e-mail list and need directions.

Jill, you must live a few blocks from me.

Hope people can brave the snow and ice tomorrow.

I emailed everybody on the list and anyone here who requested to be added. If you didn’t get an email, let me know…

Thanks, Jane. I’m glad you could tear yourself away form GTA! ;)

wont be making it tonight, but want to second the raves for Seattle Yarn. I am a brand new knitter myself, and went in there as a bare newbie. They were so nice and supportive- and honest! When I had problems, I could always come in and get a quick lesson to fix it. Those ladies rock.

Hi Ellen: Will you add me to the email list too? I’m valiantly trying to do yoga on Thursdays, but on the evenings I can’t get to that, I’d like to hang with the flurry of flying fingers! Next Tuesday might work too.

    .

An offer for Semele: I’ve got bunches of extra knitting needles and yarn that would be great for a beginner to practice on. If I can’t make it Tuesday, I’d be happy to give them to Ellen to bring to you.
