DianeParticipantI’ve been anxiously awaiting, watching my mailbox for the Water Taxi postcard with coupon, every since the March 19 post re Water Taxi opening day
~
Alas, still nothing in my mailbox
~
I live in apt building, and last year we also did not receive any of Dow’s mailers; what’s the deal with that?
~
while riding bus downtown yesterday, some other folks from WS said they received their pc’s 2 weeks ago, and they don’t even need coupon because the water taxi is free with their annual bus pass
~
Please, what do we need to do to get these postcards with coupons included in mailings to our apt building?
~
we’re in the Belvidere neighborhood

beachdrivegirlParticipantNot sure Diane, I know we received ours about two weeks ago. Does the water taxi have a number you can call?
March 29, 2009 at 11:09 pm #662469
JanSParticipantDiane…I live right behind Ad. Safeway, in an apt. bldg, and get them every year…PM me with your address, and I’ll send you mine :)
oh..and call Dow…tell him that your bldg. is being missed…

miwsParticipantDiane, it looks like JanS has you covered on the coupon, but in the meantime, here’s a couple of URL’s, and an E-M Addy, if you don’t have them at hand.
Dow:

Water Taxi:

Oh, and I’m in an apartment too, in across-ish from the Morgan St Thriftway, and I received my coupon within the last week or two also.

MrJTMemberWe’re on Belvidere and Hinds, got ours a couple of weeks ago…

JustSarahParticipantIn my apartment we don’t get a fair amount of our mail :-( And voicing my concerns to the post office has done nothing. No coupon here. Since we moved to our current building in January, we average about two days a week where we get no mail at all, which we know is not right. We’re south of Morgan Junction, 98136.
March 30, 2009 at 3:37 am #662474
DianeParticipantthanks everyone for feedback, and JanS for kind offer
~
I did email Dow earlier to let him know
~
wow, so there are others not receiving the pc
~
we do get a TON of junk mail at our apts here; opposite of Sarah, I’ve tried to stop all the junk crammed into our tiny old mailboxes, but have been told by mail carrier that it’s the law, and the carrier will get fired if they don’t insert all of it into our box; usually on Tues there’s so much junk, can barely open box and get it all out without ripping junk and my REAL mail to shreds; then I have to take it all apart to make sure nothing important is stuck inside all the junk
~
I’ve even searched through recycle paper basket to see if somehow the carrier missed my box; nope, still not there
March 30, 2009 at 3:42 am #662475
ErikParticipantLive on Alki and have never received a water taxi coupon.
March 30, 2009 at 3:45 am #662476
DianeParticipanthey MrJT, I just pm’d you
March 30, 2009 at 3:45 am #662477
JoBParticipantwe live in a house near 35th and thistle and didn’t get a water taxi postcard and coupon in the mail…
i save that sort of thing for out of town guests and it’s not in the drawer.
March 30, 2009 at 3:48 am #662478
JustSarahParticipantDiane, re: junk mail… I used GreenDimes.org, which apparently has changed its name, to stop junk mail: http://mailstopper.tonic.com/
They got us off many mailing lists, to the point where the only real “junk” we got was the Tuesday coupon mailer (which you can not get rid of).
I think the P.O. that presides over 98116 and 98126 (our old ZIP) is better than Westwood. Westwood took forever to fully process our change of address, and we’re constantly getting mail for our neighbors. And like I said, we know how much mail is normal for us, and it was always really rare for there to be one day without mail, and now we’re getting 1-2 days a week with no mail. It’s scary how careless our mailperson is. I’m aware of 5 important pieces of mail I never got (can’t be replaced) – who knows how many more haven’t gotten to us…
March 30, 2009 at 6:44 am #662479
alki_2008ParticipantAlso in the Alki area (obvious by the nic, I guess) and haven’t received any coupons either. Been getting plenty of mail about garbage/recycle services and other junk mail, but no coupon yet. :(
March 30, 2009 at 6:51 am #662480
JanSParticipantWestwood DOES handle 98126…not the local post office on Calif. When I had an office on Harbor Ave. at ActivSpace, which is 98126, it was hassle if anything went wrong (and it did, often), always had to go out to Westwood :(
March 30, 2009 at 2:14 pm #662481
SueParticipantI don’t know if it happens here, but back east when I lived in an apartment building, the postal workers were often too lazy to sort out those types of mass mailings where everyone got the same thing (like Bed Bath & Beyond coupons), and they’d often dump them on the floor in front of the mailboxes for us to pick up. And, of course, somebody who was greedy would take them all. Is it possible that they’re just getting dumped by mailboxes and someone’s taking them? Just a thought.
March 30, 2009 at 3:18 pm #662482
austinMemberNo water taxi coupon yet at my house in 98126 either. I do get plenty of coupons and junk mail for people who haven’t lived here in years though. Which is a good thing in a way because my monthly free item postcard from metropolitan market is always addressed to someone else. Any way we can somehow request one?
March 30, 2009 at 5:38 pm #662483
DianeParticipantSue; as I stated in earlier post, my mail carrier is very diligent, insists on putting all the junk mail in each individual box; I hate it, and have begged to have it all in a pile, but he told me that if he does not put junk mail in each box, he could get fired
~
after residents open their mailboxes, they/we dump all the junk mail in a large open recycle box we have set up under the mailboxes; I have also dug through that past couple weeks to see if Water Taxi pc’s were delivered; have not seen any yet
March 30, 2009 at 6:01 pm #662484
rockhillsMemberNone in my mail either–I’m in an apartment building on California near AK junction.
March 30, 2009 at 6:23 pm #662485
JustSarahParticipantMaybe us renters are not the “desired” demographic for the coupons? Probably not, more likely they didn’t take all apartment/condo buildings into account when sending the coupons out. I do love that my annual bus pass, paid for by my employer, gets me unlimited WT rides as well :-)
March 30, 2009 at 8:00 pm #662486
SuitsarenotBoringMemberI live in an apartment in the Admiral district and did get mine over a week ago.
Are you a registered voter? I am wondering if the County mailed to voter lists. I go by my middle name and my legal name was on the postcard as it is in the voter file. Dow’s office would have mailed to my middle names, since that is how they know me.
March 30, 2009 at 8:07 pm #662487
JoBParticipantaustin..
it just occurred to me. i haven’t received a coupon from met market since i changed zip codes…
and yes i did change voter registration… so Hizzoner knows where to find me for the taxi postcard:)
March 30, 2009 at 8:53 pm #662488
AlkiKmacParticipantI live in an apartment on Alki and received my coupon. It’s been on my refrig at least two weeks. Also, am registered voter. Perhaps some folks mistake the sleek mailer for junk and dispose of it without actually looking at it?
March 31, 2009 at 4:54 pm #662489
James BushMemberThis is James Bush from Councilmember Dow Constantine’s office. Poster #20 is correct, we use a voter registration list to send the Water Taxi postcards, so apartment dwellers get them just like everybody else. However, voting precincts are updated (probably) more often then we update our precinct lists, so we obviously missed a precinct or two. Anyone who didn’t get a Water Taxi card and wants one should give our office a call at 296-1008.
March 31, 2009 at 6:28 pm #662490
DianeParticipantThanks James, and Dow
~
I emailed Dow couple days ago, and alerted to this thread; good to get response
~
well the voter registration list is sure news to me; why not send to all WS residents?
~
I’ve been a registered voter/voted in every election, for nearly 40 yrs; have been in this apt almost 2 yrs, so that should not be the issue
~
and I did receive Dow’s 4 page 2008 summary in my mailbox recently
~
my original email to Dow has my address, requesting a Water Taxi card; do I also have to call?
March 31, 2009 at 6:54 pm #662491
JanSParticipantI think I’d give him a call, just to be on the safe side…it might get the wheels turning faster :)
