seaopgalParticipantThe perfect toilet paper, so vital, so elusive. What is your go to brand?
January 12, 2014 at 9:29 pm #803058
miwsParticipantCertainly far from the best, but yet it doesn’t dissolve when touched, nor does it feel like sandpaper, I get Target’s “Up and Up” Brand of double rolls, in the 24-Pack for around $12.00-sh.
It seems to be of better, more durable quality, than the absolute most cheapest Brands, and is relatively soft and cushy, though certainly not as much as the more expensive soft and cushy Brands.
Decent quality, and affordable, because, everyone needs to be able to afford TP! ;-)

celeste17ParticipantI usually get the Kirkland brand from Costco

waynsterParticipantI do think women need softer… they have a better need for it to be soft then men… me as long as its double ply and not made of sand paper….if you had a chance to go paperless would you by one of theses….

SueParticipantI’ve actually been on this quest and was buying small packages of every brand I could find to compare. The ultimate winner for me was Scott Ultra Soft (not to be confused with regular Scott which is as thin as tissue paper). Runners up were Cottonelle Clean Care and Charmin Ultra Strong Mega.

miwsParticipant(Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

JayDeeParticipantAfter Target data spill affected me (recently–last purchase 11/3), it may be awhile before I darken their doorway regardless of their TP.

singularnameParticipantOne of my earliest memories, ’round the age of 4 or 5, was my father stooping down at me in the door of the bathroom, trapping me inside for one of my first lectures, and demonstrating to me that I would never need more than three squares of toilet paper–“… 1 … 2 … 3 …”–ever. I also remember it as the first time I correctly interpreted That Look from my mother, from over his bent-down shoulder, that meant, “Just let him talk, nod, and then we will ignore what he is saying and he will never know the difference.”

seaopgalParticipantHaven’t tried some of these, thanks. What about absorbency? I like soft, but some of them don’t seem to be very absorbent.
January 13, 2014 at 2:32 am #803069
BreezyParticipantWe have a Toto Washlet and love it. But it doesn’t mean we go ‘paperless’ but we do use less :) Bottom line, better for the environment, better for the pocketbook.
As for paper brand, we buy from Costco the Cottonelle they sell, Ultra or Plush or some such thing. It’s soft, it’s absorbent, it flushes easily, and gets the job done.

anonymeParticipantSeventh Generation. 100% recycled content, no chemicals or chlorine bleach. The best.
January 13, 2014 at 4:33 pm #803071
redblackParticipantenjoy it while you can. when the zombie apocalypse comes and supplies dwindle, we’ll all be using (and re-using) old tee shirts.
January 13, 2014 at 5:34 pm #803072
miwsParticipantCan you imagine what it would be like if TP had never been invented?
The cost of printing out product pages from the Sears website would be prohibitive!

redblackParticipanthi, mike! that’s pretty danged funny.
i think it’s prudent at this point to point out that 80% of the world’s population doesn’t enjoy the privilege. (of TP, not sears and roebuck. or printer paper. which would make awful toilet paper.)
but, no. i just buy whatever’s cheapest and has a decent rag/paper ratio. printer paper, for example, has almost zero rag content. and it doesn’t fit on the spindle without a lot of work.

JanSParticipantErik..your step-dad was bonkers – lol

redblackParticipantanonyme: the actual cob?! i mean, the leaves are pretty big and fibrous. but the cob…
[shudder]

miwsParticipantHi back atcha, redblack! Good to see you hanging around here so much today! (Although I know you’ve poked your head in here and there a bit, for the last few weeks)
Back when I had my parrot, and when I got my first printer, I used to joke about the cost of printer paper and ink to print out the Times/P-I/Whatever, to line the bottom of his cage.
anonyme, I’ve hear of the corncob thing too. And yes…..[shudder]

2 Much WhineParticipantI prefer pine cones.

trickycooljParticipantAnyone else totally disappointed with the change Kirkland Signature TP made last year? I can’t wait until the stuff is gone, takes me almost a year to do a whole Costco pack in my house of 1. I liked it back when it was in the individually wrapped paper (so easy to store in multiple bathrooms and recyclable!) and now the new version is too dang big to even fit on the roll, leaves paper dust everywhere, and just doesn’t get the job done. Even my mom bought KS when I was growing up so I don’t even know what to buy next so what a timely thread!
I like Charmin moist wipes, they’re fabulous. Cottonelle wipes, not so much, I was super allergic to an ingredient in those.
