All the remedies that have been mentioned to make life better for all Americans are well and good if we would managed to start moving in that direction with some momentum.

Time is running out for the upper middle, middle and near middle class, even the less than middle class. Those that have lost jobs have little or no chance of regaining their once better status of life. This leaves well educated and experienced hard working Americans with little hope for the future .. for them and their family.

For the first time in decades …. these American citizens find themselves in a position unforeseen for those that want to work and are educated and experienced enough to have a good paying job in this country.

To push qualified Americans into a class that is much less than they deserve is Un-American … and should be dealt with soon . An uptick in job creations would be a start to solve this problem ..and anyone standing in the way of job creation in this country should be dismissed / disqualified / voted out as representatives and leaders of this country.

Do we care enough about our Families and this Great country to do what is fair and also right .. to create these opportunities to succeed and prosper. If we are to remain Strong as a people in the world… there is no other option … Jobs … Jobs … Jobs and more Jobs with better benefits .. so that Hard working Americans can retire after years of service w dignity.

JoB, Of course I believe you. You and plenty of other people have been hurt and cursed by the evil in peoples hearts.

I have been hurt by in the past also. My hurt is not as bad as yours but it did happen.

I can argue numbers for working women and men. I cannot argue with you on deviancy and sexism. I can say that there are laws that should protect every one in society, but they are not enforced. Then Congress or States pass more laws that don’t get enforced but the politicians say “Hey, we passed this bill…”

You want to create jobs eh?

Change the tax system, make everyone pay their fair share, Give business the power to create jobs but not the power to avoid paying lower than average taxes. But don’t tax them too much. Lower their taxes but enforce laws on the books that keep businesses in line.

Hire people of legal residence and stop hiring illegals who lower wages and take jobs from others. Also throw in jail business owners who knowingly hire illegals.

I do believe there can be balance in hiring, taxes, regulations. But, if government controls society too much you get stagnation.

This recovery is not robust. We can do better.

    drumroll…

    the Koch brothers….

they also fund is the Heritage Foundation… among others…

you know.. those folks who influence our lawmakers not to make any laws that would actually back up or enforce any law on the books that would protect any kind of minority from exploitation.

and fund legal challenge after legal challenge to those that are still law…

such nice boys.. those Koch brothers … not

i just read your post #105

it appears you need to get to know the Koch Brothers a little bit better before you toot their horn because they are pretty much in exact opposition to this part of your post.

“Change the tax system, make everyone pay their fair share, Give business the power to create jobs but not the power to avoid paying lower than average taxes.”

They are Libertarians. On some things I agree with them, and others I do not. The main issue is that they and other very wealthy people do things that we like and dislike. The Demonization of them gets a bit ridiculous like many people I agree with Demonize George Soros.

JoB, I love the Heritage Foundation. If I really wanted to start pushing the conservative agenda I would inundate this site with their stories, but I don’t.

And the Keystone Pipeline has been delayed again and for some reason I have to think the Environmental Lobby groups and donors to the President and his party had some say in this.

Tom Steyer has pledged 100 Million to help Democrats in this election and he hates the Keystone Project. The President obviously wants his help and delayed the project again.

I find this very ironic. You guys complain that the Republicans in Congress AREN’T DOING THEIR JOBS. Well I guess the Executive Branch on this one isn’t doing its job either.

Please, whether it’s the Koch Brothers, Or the Google Guy, or Steyer or Trump, they are going to try to use their money to influence our leaders and Politicians. And it works.

Good Lord. Both sides do this. If you want anything done in DC you need to Lobby.

But if the Federal Government wasn’t so large, this wouldn’t be such a problem. It would be there but not as much.

Best way to get rid of lobbyists is to scale down the Federal Government, and those lobbyists would be working the State politicians more often.

    But that won’t happen.

perhaps the Keystone Pipeline has been delayed because it will provide only a handful of long term American jobs, the oil will pass over American soil without passing through American refineries into American cars and there is a very good chance that an oil spill would contaminate the aquifer that provides the water for America’s breadbasket.

You may notice that not one of those reasons is political.

the Koch brothers have funded the advancement of the Keystone pipeline because they will benefit directly from it…

“Best way to get rid of lobbyists is to scale down the Federal Government, and those lobbyists would be working the State politicians more often.”

well no Rich.. it isn’t. Scaling back the government won’t scale back lobbyists because the lobbyists are paid to ensure that no matter how small the government is their employers get the largest piece of the public purse.

at best your states right movement would simply redistribute them to your neighborhood.

What scaling back the government on your terms would do is remove every service for citizens…

without changing taxes.. because those fat cats have grown very fat on the public purse and they won’t be giving that revenue source up any time soon.

you pay.. you get nothing. yeah.. i can see why you would support that… ;-(

actually Rich, i know you to a be a relatively sane nice guy

and i can’t see why you would support that

    but you do

i wish you would figure out that your kid is not likely to have the opportunity to become a captain of industry.

He is the one who will be dealing with this brave new world you think you are creating..

where men are men and carry guns and are willing to kill for for what is theirs…

No, I don’t think so. You are over analyzing this. There are too many redundant programs in the Federal Government. Parts of programs should be axed, others expanded. I think Bain Capital should be brought in. :)

There are areas that I am not thrilled about the Federal government having their hands in local lives.

But, for you to throw water on the possible dream that the sky is the limit for my son is defeatist. And you are not so. You may be correct in some possible way but why torpedo that idea before it even has a chance?

Isn’t that why you are progressive? Opportunity for all?

Cat’s out of the bag with lobbyists but I am within my right to want accountability. Whether Bush or Obama or the IRS, HHS, Military Etc.

I am fed up but I want the system to work.

The Keystone Pipeline is a battle between the Labor Unions and the Environmental Lobby. So far the Environmentalists have had the upper hand regarding the Administration.

Here are the numbers and it isn’t just a few jobs. This project needs highly skilled and highly paid union workers.

… The 13,000 jobs figure represents the number of positions required to build the Gulf Coast Project and Keystone XL. The Gulf Coast Project, which went into service in January of this year employed 4,844 men and women. Keystone XL will directly employ approximately 9000 more. We know this because the first Keystone Pipeline, which is roughly the same length, employed 8,969 laborers. We’ve also broken down the number of positions required per each spread of the project right down to the individual job. We know exactly how many people it takes to build pipelines the size of Keystone XL because we’ve been building them in North America for more than 60 years. Taken from Trans Canada

And to be honest I am tired of $3.70 to $4.00+ Obamagas. I want fuel to be cheaper. Of course I don’t see the energy profits unless I invest in a mutual fund or 401k that has stock in these companies. But businesses and people who make less money would benefit from reduced fuel prices. If the oil companies make more money and the little guy gets relief from higher fuel prices, then sign me up.

Carbon emissions are down in the US even though we did not sign Kyoto. The People and government and business are reducing that footprint (not that I endorse Gore’s CO2 mantra).

There is not any reason why the companies cannot work with the government to lessen the environmental impact that initially will crop up. Nothing is black and white.

I do think it could be helpful for the North American countries on the world market. If it helps us get away from Mideast problems, I am all for it.

Lets face it. You don’t get my line of reasoning and I certainly do not follow yours. So be it. Nice chatting with you

I wrote too much the last post. I broke my computer pencil lead.

Just so we are clear. When wealthy Republican donors get together they are evil, racist, woman hating capitalists but when wealthy Democrats like the type who are meeting in Chicago, they are good guys. Correct?

i am not torpedoing your kid’s opportunities..

on the contrary.. i would like to enlarge them

i think everyone deserves to sink or swim on their own merit…

I don’t know whether Republican donors are evil racist women hating capitalists or not.

what i do know is that their policies promote extreme inequality in wealth creation, educational opportunities and employment opportunities.

that’s enough for me to think they aren’t really to much interested in actual citizens.

as for those democrats… i am extremely sad to report that at this point in time they are merely the lesser of two evils.

Post 112 is so true Rich …. The Koch brothers do give to programs that they deem important to them, but they are still selfish, bigots and Anti Americans, as is most of the Republican party.

Those that don’t think like the Koch’s don’t do anything to disapprove of those behaviors that harm most of the country. They are against the minimum wage increase, healthcare for those that can’t afford it, against regulations that help with job safety and security, against pensions, unemployment benefits, against regulations on the oil industry that destroys our water and air.

I could go on and on about the Koch’s and those Republican wealthy that are so greedy that they are willing to harm the country.

I am not one of the unfortunate … my wife and I worked on the same jobs for over 30 years each, right out of college. Our children were Blessed to have the same experience so far.

We are both retired w annual incomes in the 6 digits. I do not let my Blessings blind me to the experiences of others. I am involved in my church and those less fortunate than I am. I also see how others … mostly Republicans stand by and let the wealthy harm the less fortunate and ignorant in this country. It is so sad that a country of mostly Good citizens let the wealthy take us down.

When those of us who had it relatively easier than others .. we think that they are on their own, but to the contrary we are all in this boat together… that’s why what was happening to the less fortunate, uneducated, fewer skills, aged and tossed to the heap pile of forgot ten’s, or just born to the wrong end of the Gene Pool… is starting to happen to us. Unemployment, lack of security on our jobs, doomed to work until we die, or unable to work due to illness and No Retirement to be seen in our future.

If we would stop throwing rocks at each other … we could see who are enemy really is … The wealthy .. that only want more wealth and power than they could ever use in 10 life times,

How Greedy can anyone be .. Our Lord and savior and many wise people of our past have warned us about the wealthy / rich … over and over, but we have failed to Learn … Now we are paying for it, for how long who knows. Only the masses coming together for the benefit of mankind will solve this Problem. Will We ????????

I differentiate between opportunity and greed. Since I am only Rich in name and not wealth I personally cannot know what the top 1% think.

I have a different view from you. But I do think the future can be positive. Eventually. Hopefully.

Tell me this. Are wealthy Democrats just as evil as wealthy Republicans? I would say yes, but I have a feeling you disagree.

I was being facetious in 112 but you certainly have your reasons for feeling how you do. I am not going to argue with that.

No, I prefer to argue with JoB and Dobro. They deserve it. And boy, when I do not have my ducks in order they let me have it.

“Are wealthy Democrats just as evil as wealthy Republicans?”

Only if they commit evil acts. Wealth doesn’t make a person evil, Dem or Repub. It’s what you do with that wealth that determines that.

We often want to put all Politicians in the same basket … They are not quite the same. Greed is a trait that most wealthy people share, but the difference is which has the most disdain for the less fortunate and minorities, those who start out with a short end of the stick and are held there as long as it profits the Conservative / Republican wealthy.

The proof is in the history of the Republican party and why they left the Democratic party, and what they do to the less fortunate as they gain more wealth. They tend to take more and more away from them, when there really isn’t a need .. other than how it makes them feel to step on those they wish would just go away.

Really … Wealthy Repubs. wish all poor and middle class people would go away … Their reason for creating conflicts between the poorly educated low and middleclass populations. The more they fight amongst one another .. the less we pay attention to what they are doing to us all. Taking Everything !!!!!!

I think the last post was incredibly one sided and frankly idiotic. I mean class warfare is one of the top talking points of the left. Along with income inequality. We want more success, not less.

JanS, would you say that Retired60’s post was essentially calling people of the right EVIL?

Look who was behind the waste for Bio-Fuel for the military that cost 64 times more than regular jet fuel.

    http://freebeacon.com/national-security/report-pentagon-paid-150-per-gallon-for-green-jet-fuel/

R60. This wasn’t a Rich Republican behind that company that sold the bio fuel to the military. This one story torpedoes your whole post. But wait, I have more…

Our President gave 500 Million dollars to Solyndra to push alternative energy which they wasted, and promptly went bankrupt, and will probably be prosecuted for mishandling the funds. THOSE WEREN’T REPUBLICANS!!!!

How about this regarding George Soros … http://freebeacon.com/issues/soros-funded-study-ranks-soros-last-in-transparency/

He isn’t a Republican now is he. His group, like the President’s administration, does not show transparency like they would want you to believe.

It is not only the Republicans fault for poorly educated low and middle-class populations as you state. That is the fault of every school district, town, state, and the Federal Bureaucracy. Last time I checked, I don’t believe the wealthy got a tax break for the property tax that they paid for the schools.

The United States spends more money on our students than any country in the world but we are not showing the results that many think would correlate between spending and educational success.

This is a community problem and your whining and finger pointing is not helping the situation. It is only dividing us even more. And I really don’t want that.

no, Rich, I do not think that retired60 was calling all Repubs evil. Retired60 has posted enough on here for (at least me) to know that if he was going to call them evil, he would have said that. It’s a short word, only 4 letters…and I doubt he’d beat around the bush. Please stop interpreting what people are saying to fit your agenda or bias.

Class warfare may be something the Dems talk about incessantly…but class warfare is what Repubs DO incessantly, IMHO. Nighty night…has been a long day.

and, awwferfuxache…bringing up Solyndra after all this time? Time to move on. Rich, that was the shortest few months in history (you said the other night that you’d be back in a few months)….can’t stop assuming things, implying things, can you? Gotta get that right wing stuff in there whenever you can, huh. So..you don’t want to divide “us”. And you say “we’re” finger pointing, whining…..all the while you finger point, whine, and say things that divide. Way to go, m’dear.

if we stopped playing politics as a sport and started focusing on some of the issues. .i think we would find a lot more common ground.

Rich, every time somebody quotes Ayn Rand, I chuckle to myself thinking of this perfectly crafted encapsulation of the thinking associated with that world-view:

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.
