Yay, bertha!!!! Glad to see a new person playing the game.
Mount of Transfiguration. A Samoan Pentecostal church in the White Center area.
This church started out long ago as another flavor of Christianity, and it was in a state of chronic disrepair until about 10 years ago, when the Samoans fixed it up nice and brought it back to life. I don’t know, but I would guess that it’s been painted in the same exuberant style as you’d find in churches on the Island. During the recent snowy days, it looked to me like a fanastic Candy Cane Castle.
They have barbecues there all summer, and as I pass by on my walks, I can sometimes hear the congregation singing like to bust the doors off the place. Ah . . . how many times have I wanted to poke my nose in and see what’s doin’!
One of these days (and it won’t be long) I’ll traipse in during the service, walk right up to the altar, and introduce myself.
See if I don’t!
