From what I gather reading back through the posts, here’s where I think we stand, and what I can offer:

    * Drop off your shoes at Full Tilt or HotWire between now and the early evening of Jan. 20

    * I’ll swing by on the evening of Jan. 20 to collect the donations

    * Will deposit them the next day at Edie’s, for distribution to Soles 4 Souls

New or gently used shoes of all sizes are appreciated. I think Soles 4 Souls is best because it allows maximum variation in size and variety.

Lora and Fulltilt: I’ll be in touch to see if you would like a donation box and signage.

WSBers: Please spread the word as well as you can. Due to work, life, etc., I’m really not able to devote a ton of time to this. But would love to follow through on the above plans.

    Sound good?

TR just put this on the HP, so unless folks have this under control and I’m being a buttinski, maybe we can do some old-fashioned broadcasting as well for foot traffic in the hoods.

Any artists out there willing to come up with some art for a 8×11 style flier? How about we note it as “Shoe Day 2009” and note locations of Hotwire and Fulltilt. If you are willing, PM me and I’ll get some copies made asap as soon as you give me something to work with.

From there, I suppose I’ll get back here to ask for assist to disperse around WS and WC, yes?

I have an 8×11 poster I can e-mail you. I only printed out enough to place at Full Tilt and Hotwire. It has their logos, etc.

PM me and I’ll e-mail it to you (have to save it in regular .doc and .pdf first)

One other thing I should note: Would be best if the shoes gathered are fairly sturdy. Soles 4 Souls hands out a lot of shoes in areas where sturdy shoes are most welcome by young and old.

this is wonderful! i will help to spread the word among my friends.

there is some great info on the soles4souls website, including a flyer template (looks like you already have one, though):

    http://www.soles4souls.org/pdf/s4s_flyer.doc

and 10 Steps to Coordinating a Successful “Gently Worn” Shoe Drive:

    * Contact Soles4Souls. A Soles4Souls representative will communicate with you via phone and email to cover shoe drive details.

    * Secure a date to begin. Most shoe drives last around four weeks.

    * Secure your drop-off locations. Secure a location to process the shoes (warehouse, gym, community building, etc.).

    * Ask Soles4Souls about promotional materials. Soles4Souls can provide brochures, collection boxes, a DVD, our logo for you to create a flyer, and a banner to help promote your shoe drive.

    * Suggest a $2 donation per pair to offset shipping cost

    * Feel free to use your local TV, radio, and newspaper to publicize the event.

    * Process the collected shoes by placing a rubber band around each pair and place in boxes for shipping. Please download, complete and include with your shipment the Donor Information form to ensure your receive the appropriate credit.

    * Ship your shoes to our warehouse in Alabama, Nashville or Nevada. Contact a Soles4Souls representative with any shipping questions.

We will process the shoes and ship domestically/internationally.

    * Publicize your results and express appreciation for everyone’s participation.

    My $.02 –

I don’t know about the flavors – for you are the Master and I bow to your genius; however, if you could pull it off in red, white and blue, I think it might be kind of cool.

Thank goodness sanity has prevailed. That is fantastic!

I hope people rethink this shoe toss idea. You could at least stand up to him face to face. At least the Iraqi did that much.
