If you have a Flickr account, you probably know that you can submit your photos to topic-specific groups. I recently discovered the West Seattle group and noticed, that there isn’t as much activity there, as I’d expect from such a lively community. So, I figured that either only a very few people have Flickr accounts, or people just don’t know about the group’s existence.

    Anyway, here it is.

I’d love to check it out, but the link doesn’t work. :(

Hi – We also actively encourage people to share photos here, where they will be seen by thousands of other West Seattleites (if you scroll through our archives, you’ll see that great photography is one of the hallmarks of our coverage – at least when it’s contributed by others; our skills are certainly not “great” but we try). We did set up one Flickr group for West Seattle Pet Photos (you can find it on the Pets page) but we haven’t found that Flickr is an efficient way to publish photos on WSB or share them here. Certainly Flickr is great if you’re not shooting something of a timely nature, but if you have captured something with news value (and we count great sunset/beach type shots in that area!), we love to get ’em here. I would set up an adjunct gallery as part of a future redesign if there was much demand for it but so far nobody’s asked about it – TR (WSB editor/co-publisher)

p.s. The group mentioned by the OP appears to be at

I would agree. For news items and such, Flickr is not the best choice. But for everyday snapshots and the like, it’s fabulous. :)
