Seeking an experienced after-school childcare provider / nanny for three children. This will be a nanny share between two families and pay $20 per hour. The schedule would include 12.5 hours per week, with daily afternoons Monday through Friday from 2:50 to 5:20 pm. Two of the children are entering kindergarten and one is entering 1st grade.

This may be an ideal opportunity for a student or someone looking for a supplemental income. We ask that you are experience caring for very active children, that you are physically and mentally active yourself, and enjoy seeking challenges and enrichment for yourself and the kids. The ideal candidate for this job also has excellent listening and communication skills with young children, is a coach to children who are learning to play, socialize and also solve problems. The right candidate is playful but knows how to be grounded and models kindness, good self-control and calm, while being firm and consistent as needed. They will also be skilled in managing high levels of energy, keeping to a stable routine, and very reliable.

A driver’s license and good driving record is required, as well as certification in first aid and CPR.

A typical afternoon will include picking the three kids up from school at 2:50 (they all attend the same elementary school), providing a snack and a chance for quiet/relaxing time if they are tired (such as reading or building Legos) and an opportunity to do movement through play (whether outdoors at a park if it’s nice weather or indoors at the library, one of our homes, or another location if its rainy). Then you will drop the kids off at their homes, but this is yet to be arranged and may change as we see what works best once the school year is in full swing. Some days, one or more of the kids may be involved in an after-school activity on-site at school and require over-lapping pick-ups, but we will facilitate this running smoothly.

Please email your resume or a note about your experience to cachorney@yahoo.com. We look forward to finding a good fit for this position and hope to begin in September (with the start of Seattle Public Schools) and to go through the 2015/16 school year.
