Road flare disposal?

We have a broken road flare and were wondering if anyone can tell us how to properly and safely dispose of it. Thanks!

Thanks for checking instead of just tossing it … I would call the county’s Household Hazardous Waste Information Line at 296-4692. Here’s the info on flares from their database:

The nearest disposal location is the South Transfer Station at 8105 Fifth Ave. S. (south of the First Ave. S. Bridge)
