oddrealityParticipantA big thanks to everyone that helped us look for our cat and extended positive thoughts and prayers for his return. He was gone for a whole month but this morning at 7:30 a neighbor called to say he was in their basement!![So much for the tracker] They have a big dog and Auggie spent his time hiding from the dog and sneaking out to eat dog food when the dog was away.He looks great, lost a pound or so .Auggie has a tiny voice so even if he cried they could not hear him. We are so glad to have him home and glad he was not really taken away. We heard so many stories of cats being taken and dumped or used for dog fight bait. We are glad none of those things were his fate. I learned to never give up and to keep pestering the neighbors when you lose a pet even if it does make you look like the crazy cat lady.:)

charlabobParticipantCouldn’t Auggie find the out door? Do you think he was in the basement all the time? That is a great story and I’m so happy he’s back. I thought about him even more after the return of the pugs.
If anyone ever gets one of my cats and tries to use ’em for dog fight bait, I firmly believe the dogs will wish for a new life. They’re indoor katskys, so it ain’t gonna happen … but still, they had our 70 pound dog quite well trained to serve and protect them.

oddrealityParticipantCharlabob, I guess they do not open the basement door much. The big dog went down there too and Auggie was hiding way up high on top of some boxes. They finally saw some white fur and had found some poop but thought maybe they had a possum in the basement.Auggie is pretty but maybe not as brilliant as I always thought he was. :)
Yes, mellaw6565, its a great feeling to have my baby home! Thanks!
Thriftwaygirl, thanks so much for your help. You can take down my poster now and make room for someone elses. You were very helpful and I appreciate it.

rs261MemberI’ll be happy not seeing all the posters as I walk my pups around the neighborhood, knowing that Auggie is back home safely!
I do find all the detective work that was done interesting at this point…the doggie tracking, the other detectives…

oddrealityParticipantrs261, We are going out in a few minutes to remove as many as we can remember where they are. It may take awhile as we posted a lot of them but we intend to get them all.I’ll be glad not to see them too!It was sad reminder every time I left the house.

JimmyGMemberGlad Auggie is home. I saw one of your posters just last night while out on walks–I’ll pull it down for you if it’s still there tonight.
I think you should let the “tracker” know where Auggie was found. Trackers (at least the ones I know) always want feedback on where the person was actually found in order to be able to read their dog better in the future.

JoBParticipanti am so glad you cat was smart enough to hole up somewhere safe with good food..
smart cat.
one of the houses i toured when looking for rentals had a cat condo on the back patio… it was roughly the size of a very nice aviary for parrot sized birds.. with cat door to the house. The cat could go outside.. but not far from home.
it thought it was a really clever idea.
