i’m surprised that i’m the first to comment on this.

what a great addition to the north end of the junction – and to seattle at large. there’s no other store like it.

i’d estimate the variety of bottled beers to be in the high hundreds. it seems that every beer/ale craving can now be satisfied in one location. among the off-the-beaten-path stuff: gluten-free beers and ales, rare foreign selections like ice ciders, and a decent wine selection.

full throttle bottles in georgetown? good selection, but beer junction has just upped the game.

bottleworks in wallingford is okay, and i respect them. their fremont tap room, brouwer’s cafe, is awesome, too.

but west seattle is lucky to have beer junction. not too big. not too small.

the tap variety is solid. stouts, porters, ales… very nice. not just local run-of-the-mill stuff, either. (e.g. manny’s pale is great, but it’s ubiquitous, and you won’t find it there.)

i was there tuesday afternoon. during happy hour, quaffing patrons quickly filled available tables. and the traffic of folks just shopping for and buying bottles was steady and pretty respectable.

you can buy beers and have them corked for a fee. you can have a pint from the taps while you peruse the impressive selection of bottles.

and the owner says you can bring food there. maybe fish and chips from seattle fish co?

good job, guys. congratulations on your new digs. and thanks for making west seattle your home.

RB, I had no idea we had such a store, and I’m so thrilled to hear it. I’ve been looking for Delirium Tremens; hope they have it. Lucifer is another fave, also Pangaea from Dogfish. Can’t wait to check it out – thanks for the heads up!

and for those who didn’t see the front page story, i should mention that they occupy the former model train shop on california, next to where the liquor store used to be.

anonyme: i’ll betcha they got ya’ covered. ;)

I was struck by beer awe when I entered — not unlike the awe I felt when I saw Trinity College in Dublin’s library and the Book of Kells. I thought of it as a beer church (I know it is taken) but maybe a beer library or chapel?

    anonyme,

They have all those and more … and the best thing about it all is Morgan & Allison are good folks … I hear the windows at the front of the place open as well, what a spot the tables up front there will be come summer!

I also was very impressed with the new space. It seems so much larger but I’ve been told it’s not. JayDee – you are so right. The Beer Junction is my church too. Morgan knows his stuff and is always eager to recommend new and exciting beers to try. I will be back there day after day. So lucky to have them in the neighborhood.

I recently discovered that my mother’s side of the family may be related to a large Belgian brewery. Can’t wait to make THAT connection! If true, the next round is on me.

    Mmmmm…BEER.

Until Morgan taps rumrunner I’m gonna be fake mad at him. Yep. Uh huh. He’s a big boy, I think he can handle it.

(You know you love your beer guy and gal when you bring them cider back from vacation).

redblack, I believe I recall the WSB Front Page article stating they have over 1200(!) beers among their selection.

    1200? crikey.

among the names of beers that i find amusing are old engine oil and pothole filler. (these are obviously stouts/porters.)

Love the new place, but I am soooo bummed that I cant shop when I have my kids with me which is most of the time. I guess I get it, but it definitely puts a damper on my good-beer buying :(
