afrikandoParticipantI need someone to help me manage the ancient and powerful blackberry plants that live in my front flower beds. What I want is someone to come by on a regular basis (biweekly?), cut back the new growth, and apply a systemic weedkiller to the cut plants. I also want the blackberry cuttings removed. Obviously, poison is a last ditch effort—these weeds live behind a rickety rock wall that I don’t want to pull down.
The plants have been cut back and are not too terrible now; job should take less than 45 minutes each visit. I just had shoulder surgery and can’t do this myself. Thanks for any leads!

redblackParticipanthere’s my experience, and it has shown some positive results, although it might be late in the growing season for this tactic to work. i started in april.
as soon as i saw them leafing out, i cut them back, pulled as much as i could, and rooted the root balls that i found – which left me with a more barren patch of ground.
a couple of weeks later, new growth started from the root balls that i missed. so i dug out the root balls.
so far, i’m winning battles. but the war is far from over.
you could google for people who rent goats. (not to be confused with men who stare at goats.) the goat herders stake out your desirable plants, and the goats eat the rest.

icrijonParticipantI recommend David French @ 206-349-4642.
He’s thorough, timely, polite and does a great job
at a fair price! He listens to your needs and then gets
the job done.
