TheVelvetBulldogMemberThe “Artist Group” post went off on its own little tangent regarding the yarn arts and the desire to perhaps get together and share yarn/yarns (ha)/skills/projects and etc… I’m thinking it would be fun to gather somewhere outdoors when it gets nice, like on Alki, hang out on our lawn chairs, sip cool drinks and indulge in knitting and crocheting fabulousness! Of course, waiting for it to get nice could take a while judging by the depressing weather reports, so in the meantime, perhaps we should see how many folks are interested in a get together and work out logistics from there.

AnonymousInactivevelvetbulldog – I don’t knit, but my mom is a die hard.
What you are describing sounds like heaven for her!
Thank you, btw, because I’m trying to convince her to move here….. this helps. I’ll show her this thread!
Good luck and I’m confident you’ll get a huge response!

MichelleParticipantI would be interested – there is an active group, I believe, that meets a night in Westwood Village – but I like your idea of outdoors!!!

inactiveMemberI’m interested too, but I still have to relearn how to cast on. :] It’s been a good, long while. So, I checked out Seattle Yarn on California for adult beginner’s classes as you suggested TVB. Might be heading down there soon, but I want to do a little more research for classes around here which are held in the evening.
Though I haven’t seen them lately, there use to be a knitting group which met weekly, I believe, up at Coffee To a Tea.

keleesoMemberI love the idea of meeting outside. I have made 1.5 scarves. I want to jump in and knit some fingerless gloves. There are so many yarn options. I love it!

charlabobParticipantDood — The folks at Seattle yarn will actually show you how to cast on (again) if you just wander in with a ball of yarn and a couple of needles. For some reason, I just don’t grok casting on. If I stay away from knitting for a couple of months, it just leaves me, and I can’t learn it from books. I’ve gone in, looked helpless, and they took it from there.
