I see my post is gone. Sorry. We have had an unfortunate incident that has caused us to break our lease early and were just trying to help get this place rented. Doing anything we can because the longer it sits vacant after we leave the longer we have to continue to pay on it. :(

@MG: why guess? Email Tracy & Patrick and ask what happened or how your post may have violated the rules. I’ve seen for rent posts on the forums before and can still find some by searching, so I don’t think as a class they are off limits, but they are considered advertising and must adhere to the forum rules here

Good idea. I did take a peek at the rules and did research some other posts prior to posting so I am at a loss as to why my ad was removed. I’ll drop them a note! Thanks :)

There is a sticky post at the top of the forum index, in which it is stated that those are against the rules. We are working on a bonafide classifieds section but it’s not launched yet and until and unless stated otherwise, these are the rules:

‘For rent’ ads, as well as ‘services offered for pay’ ads (nanny, yard work, etc) are not allowed, thus I do not post forum ads for my child care services; but there are regularly ‘for rent’ and ‘nanny/babysitter offered’ postings on the forum, many even repeat their ads after being deleted; sometimes I contact TR; she’s way too busy to monitor constantly; and I hate to continually bug her about ads that are not supposed to be on here; I’m guessing most just post ads without reading the rules, so it takes community to keep the forum as intended

it’s stated clearly in the rules and owners have restated many times on forum, it is OK to respond to posts that request a nanny, yard work, etc or someone looking for a rental, but not ok to advertise (post your own ad for free on the forum); unless of course you want to sign up as a paying westseattleblog sponsor

Thanks TR and Diane for the explanation. Having seen so many for rent and services available posts go up, I too, did not fully realize that they were all out of bounds. I think I’ve only started one Forum thread, so while I recognize the official rules page when I see it, I think I’ve only seen it that once or twice.

If I might offer a suggestion for clarity, it would be to link to the official rules page from the clarification sticky post that is visible at the top of the forum threads.

I think that sticky post is what most people end up looking at when seeking clarification, and it seems many posters are missing the official rules when they start a post. I’m sure some willfully ignore the rules, but the OP here seemed to not have realized that her post was out of bounds. A little more in our face with the rules, might save some time in deleting posts in violation.

    Thanks again for the clarification.
