WWMomParticipantHi All,
I am fostering a sweet pup who had an accident on our carpet downstairs. Now the entire basement smells sooooo bad…..
Any suggestions??

KBearParticipantHave you tried Nature’s Miracle?

WWMomParticipantI have not. Is that available at a Pet Store?? I have only tried regular carpet cleaners, nothing pet specific. I have heard there were products out there for this, but wasn’t sure which to choose!!

jwwsParticipantI’ve always had good luck with white vinegar (best when spot is fresh) followed by baking soda when carpet is dry. Woolite has a commercial pet cleaner but the product’s sweet smell is almost as bad as what you are trying to clean-up. Can also try the local natural pet shops.

squareeyesParticipantI second Nature’s Miracle – used to use that with an incontinent cat. Just be aware that with enzyme odor removers 1) the smell doesn’t go away instantly, it can take a week or two to dissipate and 2) you need to fully saturate the affected area of the carpet – no skimping.

KBearParticipantYes, Nature’s Miracle is at Petco and other pet stores. We buy it by the gallon, ’cause when the dog gets sick in the house, she doesn’t mess around!

WWMomParticipantOk, thank you for the tips. I will pick some up today and report back. In the past, I have only had boy dogs…and that was not as smelly for some reason??
