wingmeMemberAnyone heard if the flu bug has hit Seattle? I’m starting to get slammed with something…achey, chills, light-headed. It’s a rapid-onset something or other.

herongrrrlParticipantUh oh, that sounds like it could be flu all right. According to this map http://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/US/2xFlu.html, there is some local flu activity.
I’ve had really good luck with that stuff called oscillococcinum. If you can get hold of some and start taking it now when the very first symptoms hit, you might be able to avoid the worst of it. Of course, if getting hold of some would involve a long walk in the snow, it’s probably not a great option. Get some rest and feel better soon!!

Garden_nymphMemberThere was something going around as my daughter had it for almost a week. She spent time dry coughing, then it became upper chest congestion. Using a neti pot really helped her remove the congestion and get over it. She felt achey and for a few days, took Advil to keep her temp down. Sounds like you need to take a warm bath or steam shower, have some Pho for dinner (Vietnamese noodle soup- steal of a deal for under $5 at Than brothers!) cuddle up by the fire and let your body heal! I hope you are feeling better soon!

squareeyesParticipantYes, my boss had the flu last week. He hates to miss work for any reason, and spent two days in bed against his very strong will.

wingmeMemberjust woke up after a loooong winter’s nap. seems to have settled into a head and chest cold, not the flu, but the onset was ferocious. thanks for the advice and sentiments.

TraciMemberoh no… I hope you feel better! All of you!
After hearing about they “48 hour flu” but never getting it, I suppose it was my turn. I went to Leavenworth with my boyfriend’s family and 7/10 of us got it over the weekend. This flu runs its course exactly the same for every person:
day 1) Headache, then you start to feel queasy, kind of weird – then at about one in the morning you *barf everywhere*.
day 2) Fevers, chills, no appetite, headache, make everyone miserable around you.
day 3) Still sluggish but over it. Probably still highly contagious.

celeste17ParticipantWhen I feel the flu coming on or a cold I pop some echineca. It seems to help speed up the healing process. But don’t take it for to long as it can change your system (so I am told). I usually start off with two and then take one from them on every 4 hours or so for a couple of days.
