    Hello!

I am interested in hearing about people’s experience at the Community School of West Seattle. I have heard good things but would love to hear more.

    Thank you!

We had a great experience with CSWS, but I do believe there is a certain type of parenting/early education philosophy you need to embrace to be a good fit for the school. If you value emotional and social development over rigorous academics, CSWS is fantastic school. The staff is caring and inclusive and really strive to help the kids learn to interact with each other, materials, and adults in developmentally appropriate ways. There is a big focus on hands on experiences that develop the skills needed to transition into elementary school, without pushing academic concepts that are beyond most preschoolers. We also loved the community of other parents and found many we enjoyed being around with and without kids.

I have a child at CSWS and I couldn’t agree more with every point made by HSG! The staff is amazing and my child is doing very well. I love the welcoming and encouraging environment.

My neighbor’s children attend the school, and I’ve noticed that the older kid is very good at clarifying his feelings in a calm and appropriate way. His “emotional IQ” is more developed that many other 5 year olds. The school is apparently good with teaching conflict resolution skills.
