JoBParticipantI didn’t know she had it in her…
IMHO this doesn’t go far enough.. but it’s a step in the right direction

dhgParticipantYes, kudos to Cantwell and even to Murray. Whenever I’ve written Murray about my concerns with net neutrality she responds with a 1000 word essay on why it is important to get internet access into the hands of everyone. In other words, she was clueless. Cantwell must’ve explained the subject to her.

redblackParticipantdhg: murray probably sends out boilerplate letters in response to her constituents, just like cantwell does. they’re carefully-worded policy papers – in case the press gets hold of it – so their responses can’t be used against them politically.

dhgParticipantBoilerplate, yes, but it should be relevant. Internet for all is not a slogan in response to net neutrality.

MargLMemberCan’t say I’m surprised by this given Maria’s history as an Exec. at RealNetworks.
One of the reasons RealNetworks had such a hard time getting the products off the ground in the early stages was the lack of easily available, affordable(-ish), high speed Internet access like we enjoy now.
Of course she’s going to have an eye on stuff like this!

MargLMemberYou could say having having high speed Internet available helped her run for Senate in the first place. Back in 2000 Maria sold a large chunk of her RealNetworks stock to finance her campaign.
Interesting history indeed.
February 9, 2011 at 10:53 pm #716735
dhgParticipantActually, Maria borrowed against her stock and so when the market crashed she was left with virtually nothing.

redblackParticipantdhg: totally agree. the internet is the poor man’s printing press. and it completely ticks off big money that they can’t extort exorbitant rates in order for people to have voices that are just as loud as theirs.
and having said that, i find it pathetic when big media companies like CNN and msnbc say things like, “follow/friend us on facebook” like some geeky, awkward teenager with no friends.
