I and a bunch of other cars were stuck behind the C Line bus this afternoon, heading north on California. After the stop near California and Fauntleroy, folks started passing in the center turn lane.

Is this legal? I thought it wasn’t, however every time I’m behind one of these buses, cars are passing in the turn lane.

Today was especially scary because a car decided to pass me and the bus when the bus stopped for pedestrians in the marked crosswalk in front of Rite-Aid.

I’m pretty sure this is not kosher. They pass in the center turn lane, but what if someone is in that turn lane going south and wanting to turn, and there is danger of a head on. Whoever designed that at Calif. and Fauntleroy had their head firmly implanted where the sun doesn’t shine. People are impatient, and think the 10 seconds they save by flooring it and going around you will get them there quicker. It’s selfish and dangerous.

And that Rite Aid thing? WOW!…if someone had been in the crosswalk, and they had hit them? How very scary…

This reminds me of an incident in front of Target.

I was heading east and the buses stop on the right side of the street. The stops are longer than a standard bus stop, its almost like they are idling. The barrier is on the left and prevents any passing. Anyone ever get stuck behind one of these? If they would move forward just a bit, you could pass.
