    Hello~

Any recommendations on where to put in kayaks around West Seattle? Don’t want to have to walk too far if I am by myself and don’t want to have to pay.

    Appreciate the recommendations.

When you say: besides Alki, do you just mean the beach?

Cormorant Cove at 61st and Beach Drive offers a fairly placid put-in spot. Mee-Kwa-Mooks a little to the south does too, more rocks. I do not know about Terminal 117 (if you like industrial rock). I think Lowman has a possible put-in. I am not a kayaker, just a resident. I was on the Cormorant Cove parks committee so we designed it with a sandy beach and a ramp for such uses.

    My two cents.

Lowman Beach works very well, but parking can be tough and lead to a walk. Seacrest works ok, but parking is worse and it’s really busy.

Just an aside, Lowman beach is only about 4.5 miles across to a “paddle only” campground on the NE end of Blake Island. Check out Cascade Marine Trails campgrounds. That place rocks. You’ll feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but have a fantastic views of downtown Seattle lights. Plus, you’ll probably be alone.

Jack Block Park is another option.

You can also launch from a couple of parks on the Duwamish if you want a little different experience.

I put in next to the water taxi and paddle up the Duwamish. Can be a very intersting paddle, especially when the salmon are spawning. Otherwise i usually put in a Lowman Beach. Best when the tide is high as there is quite a trek across the barnacles.

Little used, but perfect for kayak launching is Andover Place Park.

It’s on Beach Drive SW at SW Andover, about the 3900 block of Beach Drive SW.

Awesome access west across the water and free to use.

Not in West Seattle but I also enjoy kayaking near the UW arboretum and the mercer slough in Bellevue.

Andover Place Park really is a good place, especially when the tide is normally high or slack.

The constellation walk on beach drive. 3400 block. Many launch there!!!! Just east of light house. 2 seperate ramps to beach Across from all the pine trees- sewerage treatment plant. High tide is best. It’s a rocky beach.
