    Cheese,

I am a bit confused why you are not asking these questions of your doctor or, at least, of a medical professional staffing one of the many Covid related call centers.

Asking random strangers on a small, local internet message board just doesn’t seem like the best way to let yourself be convinced of anything. While relying solely on authority is of course a fallacy in itself, it does seem like your questions should be posed to medical professionals (for a couple different reasons).

But isnt the virus allways going to be being transmitted?
How can people not be scared-well i am not in the high risk catagorie and idk what it is now but when this first started 20% or something were a symptomatic. Thats 1 in 5 people. I am pretty sure i have had covid and while i only have a vague understanding of biology especially compared to a doctor i beleive how its suposed to work is i am suppsed to build up my own antibodys against the virus correct?

Is it wrong of me to assume that ALMOST all of those who are scared of covid are vaxed by now. If not why arent they? That just leaves those who arent scared so theres no matter there. So why cant things go back to normal?
The vax and mask requirments seem dumb to me at this point (before they were understandable but not now) because the vaxed can both still get sick and can still transmit the virus, so how is getting your shot suposed to help keep others safe? Seems to me that getting vaxed only helps you. Please tell me if and how this is wrong as i dont want to keep sharing this opinion if it is indeed harmfull but untill proven otherwise…

Curious if anyone happens to know anything about the helicopter that’s been circling near the Roxbury Safeway for at least the last 15 minutes?

    FEMA dot gov

If you know someone who has died from COVID, FEMA has up to $35,500 dollars for reimbursement funds. Follow the .gov link and the information is there. It’s phone calls and I’m sure a lot of paperwork, no online applications. But wow.

I’m in the same area and haven’t seen anything, but this used to be a frequent occurrence. The sales reps are not actually affiliated with Century Link, they are independent contractors. Impossible to say if the person you saw was an actual rep…or something else. It does seem odd that there would be any door-to-door activity during Covid. I’m on block watch, so I’ll keep an eye out for this. Thanks for looking out for your neighbors!

A middle aged caucasian man with short salt and pepper hair and a mustache knocked on our door this afternoon around 3pm. He lingered a bit after ringing the bell and then knocked on the door. I called CenturyLink and they said they didn’t believe they have anyone contacting prospective customers in this manner. I watched him continue down the block but couldn’t see if he actually knocked on more doors. I haven’t seen anyone going door to door in over six months, and it seemed to me more like he was looking for empty houses. We are in the area of 35th and 102nd, has anyone else had someone with a CenturyLink offer come to the door recently?

From my friend: I WEAR MY MASK IN PUBLIC FOR THREE REASONS:

    1. Humility. I don’t know if I might have Covid as it is clear that people can spread the disease before they have symptoms.

    2. Kindness. I don’t know if the person I am near has a child battling cancer or caring for an elderly parent. While I might be fine, they might not be….

    3. Community. I want my community to thrive, businesses to stay open, employees to stay healthy. Keeping a lid on COVID helps us all.

Please wear your masks. This Virus is not over. One Thousand and Eight Hundred are dying EVERYDAY in the US. I seriously don’t understand why it is so difficult to wear a mask.
WEAR YOUR MASKS, it won’t kill you, the Virus CAN. If not kill you, kill my elders, or your neighbor. Is your “freedom” worth someone else’s death?

Admiralguy – I do get the point. I’m just chuckling because I have seen, literally, thousands of posts in my lifetime that follow some very similar formula as this. “I am upset because I received a citation for doing X. Meanwhile, some other person didn’t get a citation for doing Y even though Y is more serious than X.” Look, I don’t mean any ill will toward you. I’m glad you shared your experience. I just don’t see why you are upset with the city for enforcing a rule. Likely one of your neighbors complained that your car hasn’t moved for months and when the city investigated they noticed the expired tabs. In better news, if you haven’t used your car for months you might want to consider selling it. Used cars are going for insanely high prices these days and you could get a mint for it!

Skeets, I guess you’re missing the point. While I follow the rule of law, I’m the one who receives the citation. (if you want to get technical, yes the car should have up to date tabs even if not used). The POINT is… why not tow and or remove tents, RV’s etc etc from the area. Why, you ask? Because these “poor people” can’t pay the fee (insert tears). I know for a fact that one of the RV’s “parked” on Harbor is owned by a local postal worker as I see him walk from his view-chalet over to the 7-11 for his morning Joe! Note: the message was listed under “rants & raves”.

I love the internet. If the city does not enforce a law people complain of lawlessness. If the city does enforce a law people complain of the city not getting priorities figured out.

You may want to warn my fellow residence and readers of this blog, that SDOT parking enforcement is ticketing automobiles with expired plates. In my particular case, my automobile was issued a $45.00 citation for expired tabs outside my home. Albeit my car is sitting along the curb on a public street, the officer must have closed his eyes while driving past the multitude of RV’s and other vehicles along Harbor Avenue.

I haven’t driven that particular vehicle in months due to COVID-19 and working from home. I do however pay over $20k a year in property-tax and would appreciate a little understanding during these hard-times. This city must get their priorities figured out before Seattle becomes another liberal city with increasing rates of people fleeing for a brighter, healthier future somewhere else.

Maddy. Jort(formerly Jort Sandwich) is a longtime blog commenter. Well known for WAY over the top anti car rants. It’s interesting to note that based on past comments moves to a different neighborhood in WS every 6 months or so and knows about traffic in WS because he drives all over. Honestly makes for entertaining reading but doesn’t sway anybody’s commuting/shopping modes. We do need to encourage non car transportation options but it’s not helpful when you read “nobody needs to drive” comments from posters to the blog that if you read all their posts turn out to own and drive cars themselves. They want you out of a car but I guess that’s so they have more room to drive their cars.

I need to get a couch from fauntleroy ferry area brought to the junction to my apartment.
I’d like someone who has moving experience.
It is for a couch 80″ long. We can shrink wrap it with a roll I have from uhaul.

    I can pay$50. That’s all I can afford
Or you may trade for a nice couch I currently have. It’s in good condition. I can send pictures to you. I needed extra deep seat cushions as a day bed.

    Thank you

I hope it stops raining for your moving pleasure. Any afternoon soon, not morning

As long as human population continues to grow at an unsustainable rate, sprawl will happen anyway. Whether it’s new housing to accommodate new residents, or established residents moving out because they don’t like crowding, merely increasing density will not solve the problem. The housing crisis is nationwide and beyond, with no one seeming to care about the resource crisis created by overpopulation. We can’t just build, build, build indefinitely. Due to the sheer number of humans on the planet, as well as the wanton destruction of the environment that is directly related to human population, life is about to get a lot more miserable for everyone – and eventually impossible.

Hi, not selling but my friend (not technologically savvy) is and was curious whether real estate agents are still asking/making 6% (3% each, buyer/seller) in this crazy housing market or have things changed? Things are selling so quickly and for so much over asking price. Thanks.
