WEST SEATTLE COYOTES: Golf Course ‘family’

Thanks to Patty for the photos. She says these coyotes were seen from the 10th green at West Seattle Golf Course this past Saturday.

We don’t know if any of them are the ones shown in this report almost three weeks ago.

I love seeing this coyote family. With the development that’s happening all around us, there’s still enough wildness to continue to carve out lives. The rabbits certainly help, and wandering cats are an especially tasty treat, I’m sure. If you love your cat, build a great catio to keep them happily and safely inside (for beautiful and cat-satisfying design ideas — https://catiospaces.com/ ).

I do love my indoor outdoor cat. To imply otherwise is wrong and cruel. Cats have been outside dealing with nature and the elements for millenniums. They love it! I wouldn’t rob them of that for anything.

Oh great.  First war on cars, now war on cats.

All domesticated cats are invasive species. They’re terrible for our ecosystems, especially bird populations. So, if you love birds, keep the cats indoors. If you hate birds and cats, let them roam free. Outdoor cats are less healthy and live shorter lives. Why are so many “animal lovers” so ignorant about literally all of this?

All domesticated humans are invasive species.  They’re terrible for our ecosystems, especially all species living on mother earth.. So, if you love mother earth it’s best not to continue your genes.   Why are so many environmental aware humans so ignorant about literally all of this?

Anyone who loves and lives with an animal knows that the animal has its own will and agenda.  Animals are not passive lumps of fur waiting for humans to tell them what they want.  I wonder if you are really ignorant of this.  Mountain climbers would be safer and have longer lives on average if they stayed home and watched TV.  If you think that’s a bogus comparison, you are perhaps not an “animal lover.”  My cat is a faithful friend and good companion, and her most passionate desire (after canned cat food) is to go outside.  If I sentence her to life in prison for the crime of being a cat, maybe she deserves it, but love is not quite the word I would use to describe this scenario.

OMG, so cute.  I was just thinking the other day how I miss the quiet and return of wildlife during the pandemic.  Humans need both for balance.
