All I can say about that is, it’s a good thing that marine is under protective custody. I would imagine a lot of people would try to do him harm. That is horrible!!!

She’s holding her own! I just saw early reports and clinton took rhode island.. is holding a good margin in ohio with a little over 50% of the vote and is neck and neck in texas with only 25% reported. vermont went Obama.

The old girl still has some life in her.

this has been a good day.

i too, am real. there appears to be another “k” out there though. only reason it bothers me is that i don’t want anyone to think those are my posts. i have been a devout supporter and user of WSB since the beginning. i use this blog for news, shared information and community. i think that’s why it exists. let’s all do our best to respect the folks who spend the days keeping this blog going. the best way to do that is to maintain some decorum. thanks to all who post useful information here! i am grateful!

Bonnie – That’s a great point. I bet you’re right that she/he/it is reading this right now. I think the best thing to do is not ever mention her or this situation again. Let’s just stop talking about her or whatever she is. She’s gone from the forum, she should be gone from our posts. Eventually, she will stop reading if there is no mention of her.

wow, thanks for all the info. I always thought cinnamon and lattemom was the same person causing problems. Is there any way that only registered users can read the forums? I’m sure she’s reading this right now.

I’m still here, I thought about changing my name to avoid confusion with the ever shape shifting lattemom, but I’m sticking with WSMom. I still feel upset about Lattemom and her problems. I sure hope somehow she will get some help (for her daughter’s sake if not her own.)

My “unfavorite” Hummer House is located near 56th Ave SW and Spokane. It has been under construction or rebuilding for years. Not only is it a large house, it has got to be one of the ugliest houses in West Seattle, with, I think, 4 floors of windowed rooms, including a bonus room (Widow’s walk) on-top to ruin whatever view remained of the neighbors (not me, thankfully).

No architectural grace or anything to soften its offending boxes stack on-top of the original construction. According to neighborhood sources, it’s only saving grace is that it reportedly blocks the view of a “developer” (odd, how we consider it a pejorative term) who house is adjacent but whose recent project a few avenues away took away the the views from several adjacent properties.

When I bought my place in ’96, the house to the left has a view convenant (and so, a flat roof) that an adjacent property owner had purchased or made when they’d sold the property originally. No easement on my place but the shame I would feel. Now if the people downhill from me go up…(knock on wood, or particle board…).

Sue- me too on the Maxima/premium gas. I was just griping about it the other night. $3.75 a gallon for the good stuff! But, considering I owe $$ on it, I had better put in premium and make my investment last. It’s 11 years old now and still – knock wood – going strong!

    NewResident,

The rarely use the high bridge during the morning commute, the low bridge route is my regular route to work. Most of the time it is wide open.

A little ways after you cross the low-bridge there will be a ramp to the high bridge accessible from the left lane. You will want to follow the ramp up and either merge into 99 NB traffic, or merge with high bridge traffic; you can take 1st Ave S. from here too.

Thanks, Sue! I would definitely rather already be IN that lane when I get on the Bridge.

The “car cross slalom” is the perfect name! made me laugh! People on this forum, I’ve noticed, are very creative with names for things. This and “Hummer Houses”. Very funny!

To get to Delridge, you can take Avalon towards the bridge and make a right at Genessee. Genessee ends at Delridge – make a left and follow it north to the bridge. That’s how I do it on the rare occasion I need to take 99 in the morning, so I don’t have to do what I call the “car cross slalom.”

actually, at the 7-11 on 35th, take a right, down Avalon, then from there take a right under the bridge and get into the left lane, go under the bridge and follow the signs to the lower bridge. If for some reason the lower bridge is closed (there are signs with flashing lights that will alert you) you can go to the upper bridge (the regular bridge)and get off on first stay on first until probably the stadiums, take a left to the waterfront. I hope that helps, and I haven’t gotten you totally confused.

I go to work ridiculously early so I don’t know about backups on 99. But if you want to try some different routes, you could probably take the 1st ave exit off of the bridge and go up to 4th avenue and go north that way. Of course that way offers a lot in the way of lights and possible trains. Or you could take 1st ave up to Spring, no trains but lights galore. I only go as far as King so I’m not sure what traffic looks like past that. Or you could take Alaska along the waterfront up to Spring, not as many lights, and then go up to 4th from there. Hope that helps some.

I really like the idea of getting on the Bridge from Delridge because that way you are already in that lane. However, we are starting out on the north end of 35th (please note: nowhere near the 100s), and I don’t know if that would make sense. If we were to take Delridge, can someone share the best way to get there from 35th and Fauntleroy?

are you heading to 1st Ave? Spokane via the lower bridge does go all the way to 1st. Roughly where are you heading that might help with directions.

We’re a Nissan owner too – well we had 2 of them until I sold mine 1-1/2 years ago. Everyone in my husband’s family back in NJ drives a Nissan. The only thing I’m not very enamored with is that ours (Maxima) says it only takes premium gas. At today’s prices, that’s a bit pricey. Fortunately we only average about 4,000 a year on it since we mostly bus, bike and walk unless we have to.

An old country Preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession.

Like many young men, the boy didn’t really know what he wanted to do, and he didn’t seem too concerned about it.

One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy’s room and placed on his study table four objects:

    – a Bible,

    – a Silver Dollar,

    – a bottle of Whiskey, and

    – a Playboy magazine

“I’ll just hide behind the door,” the old Preacher said to himself. “When he comes home from school this afternoon, I’ll see which object he picks up. If it’s the Bible, he’s going to be a Preacher like me, and what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he’s going to be a Businessman, and that would be okay, too. But if he picks up the bottle, he’s going to be a no-good drunkard, and, Lord, what a shame that would be. And worst of all, if he picks up that magazine he’s gonna be a skirt-chasin’ bum.”

The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son’s footsteps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his room. The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave the room he spotted the objects on the table.

With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.

Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm. He picked up the silver dollar and dropped it into his pocket. He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink while he admired this month’s Centerfold.

“Lord have Mercy,” the old preacher disgustedly whispered, “he’s gonna run for Congress!
