Did they mention anything about the horizontal stretching of the video? It’s quite obvious if you look at the original video vs. the Clinton ad. Was that simply to make him look sinister as well?

Of course there’s no way to tell if Clinton’s intentions were to make Obama look blacker, Muslim, or simply sinister. But nothing included in attack ads is unintentional and it seems fairly obvious that she’s glad to let the viewing public choose between the three options (whichever one they find the most frightening). Crass anyway you look at it.

I’d recommend Verizon as the best carrier for the area. I’d call their customer service line and ask what current phone/service package specials they have for new service and choose the best deal in your price range.

I am a phone hater and use any phone as rarely as possible. However, I have a basic cellphone and prepaid account through AT&T. I bought the phone, plunked $100 on the account, and that $100 lasts me a full year. The phone has text capability and that’s about it. You don’t have to put that much money on it, but if you do smaller increments I think they have penalties – something like your $25 is good for three months, but don’t quote me on that.

“Obama supporters on the Internet are agitated over the apparent darkening of Obama’s image in a Clinton attack ad.

Our video team took a look. Our conclusions:

The Obama frames from the ad do appear darker than other video of Obama from the same event.

However, the YouTube copy of the ad, on which the bloggers base their conclusions, is darker overall than other copies of the ad. We obtained a digital recording of the ad as it actually appeared on a Texas TV station, and it is lighter.

Furthermore, our analysis of the Obama frames, using Photoshop, shows a fairly uniform darkening of the entire image including the backdrop. It is not just Obama’s skin color that’s affected.

Also, nearly all the images in the ad are dark, including those of Hillary Clinton. And dark images are a common technique used in attack ads.

Others will speculate about the Clinton campaign’s intentions and motives, as they already have. But without further evidence to the contrary, we see no reason to conclude that this is anything more than a standard attempt to make an attack ad appear sinister, rather than a special effort to exploit racial bias as some Obama supporters are saying.”

A friend of mine writes a blog that’s mostly about running, but she had an article today that I thought I’d share regarding how information you post about your health online can potentially be used against you legally, such as proving you had pre-existing conditions, etc. I know a number of us have talked about our “gimpy-ness” from time to time, so I thought I’d share this:

No problem, gregory. My reading of SMC Title 15 seemed to indicate that all of the parking/planting strips are public spaces (as stated in the “Definitions” section under “D. public spaces”). Rights asserted would be the equal right to exist on that planting strip, and reminding the homeowner that he does not have property rights vis-a-vis said planting strip. It seems that you have a duty to maintain, but do not have property rights. Consequently, the expected “neighborly maintenance” of that strip seems to not give rise to any duty of care to pedestrians on the planting strip either, as it would were they on your private property, or even on the sidewalk (there is a duty to keep the sidewalk clear of debris from your planting strip or yard and free of snow and ice, etc). I found a lot of case law on the subject last night, many of them involving incidents in West Seattle.

I agree with you that it is always better to avoid confrontation if possible. That said, if the neighbor is going to give us a hard time anytime he sees us walking by, I want to at least be able to stand my ground, and know what my legal grounds are.

charlabob — think you missed my point. Yes, we all (those who live in West Seattle) know where all these houses are, could do a driving tour of such. My point was we don’t need to hand a map or roll out the welcome mat to any outsiders with time on their hands whose only warped agenda is looking to maim, burn & destroy other peoples property they deem inappropriate. Not withstanding the Ken’s point which is well taken.

Jerald, I think it’s almost impossible to find a cell phone that *doesn’t* have a camera these days! Although that can sometimes be a drawback. My husband had this contract job a while back at a super high-security faciliy where camera phones would be confiscated – risk of him taking photos of proprietary info and sharing it with the world. So he could not carry his cell phone on him during working hours at the facility because of the camera.
