Well, that’s unfortunate…I saw a lot of nice, sincere folks answering “Judy’s” queries. I’ll leave my response up in case other folks wondering the same thing happen by.

Trump himself was afraid to come to Seattle so there’s not much likelihood the alt neo fascists would gather enough pluck to try. There are more people that would jump on that bandwagon here than I would like though. And enough loner misfits that think they can make a name for themselves that we all need to be watchful.

is the shelter a 24 hour shelter?
is there secure storage for belongings?

    because here’s the reality..
unless a shelter is a 24 hour shelter it is nearly impossible for anyone to work a job and comply with the shelter hours…

i am not in favor of campers in the woods
but i am in favor of any housing alternatives that allow the homeless the opportunity to break the cycle of homelessness…

if we don’t want people living in our woods we will have to provide alternatives…

    Hello Ilovedogs,

For the past 16 years I have been managing rental properties here in west Seattle (and been a WS resident for 24, Admiral area), and I am most definitely “a good, reliable, on the ball, property manager”.

Additionally I have many WS owners and tenants who are willing to provide references if you wish, and I am up to speed on the new rental laws to include the one just announced today regarding not being able to discriminate against convicted criminals who have done their time (as much as I’m opposed to it AND voiced my opinion in person at the open-to-the-public meeting!!)

    Fellow WS Residents,

I’m a PA, and I’m looking for a recommendation of an orthopedic surgeon who can do a general orthopedic evaluation. (I’m finding that most orthos in the area specialize in specific body parts). Specifically someone who could write a follow up letter based on the orthopedic eval. (Happy to provide more info as needed – essentially it’s for a uniformed service commissioning physical and needs to be completed and submitted/received by 8/31). No surgery needed, literally just an office appt and a follow up letter. If anyone has any info that can help, knows of (or is) an orthopedic surgeon, please, please let me know! (This is the final step in over a year long process that moved our family from NY to Seattle after 11 years in the Army. I can’t even stress the importance and gratitude I would have for any assistance on this matter).

    Thanks! So much!

I’ve never felt unsafe in West Seattle. I love it here. I love the diversity, the great businesses and food, the events, the views. I think the situation you’re thinking of was the exception and not the rule. There’s crime everywhere, and more of it in densely populated areas; no reason to feel that W. Seattle is any worse than any other part of the city.

Littering is just one of many violations that are not enforced in this city. In the last few days I’ve also seen more illegal dumping than ever before, with old crappy furniture, etc., dumped on corners and at bus stops. There’s barely a bark, much less a bite.

I saw an interesting article in the paper recently that said aside from the huge population growth generating more trash, the long standing roadside garbage clean up by prisoners has been put on hold for quite some time due to a conflict between who has to assume liability for the prisoners should they get hurt on the job. Until this bill is resolved, no clean up.http://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=1227&Year=2017

Hello my partner and I are considering relocating to West Seattle and would like to get some information behind the statistics provided by the blog moderator.

We read the story about the young man that stabbed someone in the neighborhood and would like to hear from other people in the area how their experiences line up in general, and especially personal safety.

Estate Sale this weekend at Arbor Heights/White Center border.

I am so sorry. I can imagine how shaken you feel. It’s really awful out there. If it helps, two people (2!!!) gave a wave of thanks when I let them in driving back from UW. There are good, kind, aware drivers out there, but it often feels like we’re in a sea of a-holes.

I am so upset right now that my hands are shaking and I am hoping (with a very slim chance) that the driver who didn’t want me to legally zipper merge in front of him on southbound 35th at Holly reads this.
I don’t understand why this guy thought it was so important to get ONE car ahead that it was worth shoving me into the middle lane when I was already zippering into the single lane. He refused to yield and kept pushing me over to the point where I was forced into the turn lane and had to put on the brakes to get over behind him. A long honk on my part did nothing–not even eye contact from him. I know he did it on purpose and didn’t care. I just really don’t understand why people do this. Keep in mind that I was merging legally–every other car. I didn’t shove my way in. (Also, he’s really ultimately contributing to poor traffic flow if this is the norm for him. The whole point of zipper merging is to keep traffic moving smoothly and not force people to slam on their breaks just so you can “get ahead”.)
I’m a combination of enraged and on the verge of tears. If this guy is willing to drive like this on a weekday at noon on surface street, what’s he like in substantial traffic? I can’t imagine he’s a safe and courteous driver.
Dude in the silver SUV with a UW sticker on the back who did this, if you’re reading this, I truly believe that the way a person drives can indicate a person’s true colors. I wouldn’t be surprised if you weren’t the most patient or thoughtful man. Watch out for Karma!

So… I kept coming back to this post. After almost a day, the silence is deafening. It’s not an indictment. I don’t know about you, but I am stuck somewhere between…

    a loss of words,
saying my thoughts that would get me banned from this site, and,
afraid of my words being hijacked for somebody’s soapbox rant of hate.

    Terrorism (usually uncountable, plural terrorisms)

    1. The deliberate commission of an act of violence to create public fear through the suffering of the victims in the furtherance of a political or social agenda.
    2. The use of unlawful violence against people or property to achieve political objectives.
    3. A form of psychological manipulation through warfare to the purpose of political or religious gains, by means of deliberately creating a climate of fear amongst the inhabitants of a specific geographical region. (Wiktionary)

mauisurfer, I studied the signature for a couple minutes yesterday, even zooming in, and could only come up with “Froyda” as well.

Maybe that was the power of suggestion, even though I was trying to see it as something else?

In looking at it now, it looks like a cross between “Froyda” and “Twozdai”. ;-)
