Has anyone else noticed and been bothered by the excessive exterior lighting on the new Aegis building on Admiral Way? It looks like something on the Las Vegas strip. It’s bad enough that the new taller structure blocks what was once a beautiful view, but they also now diminish the night sky, waste energy and disrupt ecosystems with the overkill carnival-style lighting.

Where does one report a pile of garbage and a new homeless slum on 35th/Alaska in hopes of cleaning it up and relocating the people there to some better form of shelter? This is on the edge of the Totem Pole park also called the Rotary viewpoint. My wife spotted it as part of a new mothers exercise group (working out with small babies/toddlers) that frequents that park. The tent (or two/three) is visible when driving on 35th.

Is this a Seattle parks maintained park? Or is it a golf course adjacent general public space?

I’m sorry this is happening. I warned my daughter to be extra aware. The school should let parents know at least. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Fox_Finn, I’m due in September and just starting my daycare search. I would definitely be interested a nanny share around November-December. Let me know if that might work.

New Native: I was responding to the post prior to mine. I’m not a big truck apologist and I make no excuses for the behavior of other pillocks. I didn’t deny aa’s experience, either.

aa: oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that I can’t add something else to this thread.

I’m hardly defensive. Yup, someone went screaming past you on the shoulder and flipped you the bird. It happens. It can be scary and can get the adrenaline flowing. I’m glad your heart can take it. If the cops had been there I’d be cheering and flipping my own bird.

I didn’t blame you for not including luxury cars in your rant. I inserted them into this thread. I whinged about luxury cars. Me. I did it.

You can be mad at me for this though; I ride a loud motorcycle. I ride two loud motorcycles. I can set off car alarms with them and I ride them early in the morning to get to work. I ride them faster than I probably should and I’ve even done some lane splitting in my time. I like to balance that, though against the number of people that have tried to kill me on the road. Like the lady that decided she, and her Buick, wanted to share my lane with me on I-5. I was right next to her. I knocked on her window. After all, it’s not like I had anywhere to go.

WE are talking about scary and/or irksome road incidents right? Not feelings?

I found a black vinyl wallet at the bus stop on SW Admiral Way / California Ave 3/6. I mailed it to the address on the enclosed ID, sadly, it was returned unclaimed. If you are missing a such an item, please contact me at mheuman@gmail.com with identifying info so it can be returned to you.

mark47n, you denied aa’s experience while ignoring the fact that they illegally passed them on the shoulder AND flipped them off. Ponderosa also described an illegal pass. If someone is driving defensively, then it doesn’t matter what the size-they will not “feel like they’re right on top of you” because they won’t suddenly appear on one’s bumper.

Mark, I wrote about a specific man in a specific truck who committed several illegal acts. It is a fact that this person was speeding, driving too close behind my vehicle, and drove around the right side of my car onto the shoulder to pass. And although not illegal, certainly offense when he flipped me off as he flew by me. Unless it was you I’m not sure why you are getting defensive. I in no way criticized all truck drivers. If you want to complain about luxury car drivers go for it but don’t try to put the blame on me for not including them in my rant.

I drive a big diesel pickup when I’m not on my motorcycles or bicycle. Given the size it could feel like I’m right on top of you even though I may be following safely and traveling at a reasonable speed.

Interestingly, I don’t see anyone here complaining about the luxury car folks that go screaming past and ignoring any and all laws that are a momentary inconvenience. I find BMW’s drivers to be the worst followed by Audi.

Yes, it would be foolish to think that everything that happens, even in just West Seattle, could be covered.

Nevertheless I do hope you can shed more light on this story–especially since the original commenter mentioned that there have been several(?) similar(?) incidents.
