Where does one report a pile of garbage and a new homeless slum on 35th/Alaska in hopes of cleaning it up and relocating the people there to some better form of shelter? This is on the edge of the Totem Pole park also called the Rotary viewpoint. My wife spotted it as part of a new mothers exercise group (working out with small babies/toddlers) that frequents that park. The tent (or two/three) is visible when driving on 35th.

Is this a Seattle parks maintained park? Or is it a golf course adjacent general public space?

City of Seattle website wwww.seattle.gov find customer service page to fill out a form reporting illegal dumping.

That space is part of the seattle parks.

You can try the parks directly:

Go at it from a dumping perspective:

Try to get the navigation team to come down and offer assistance:

Good luck I used to live a couple of houses up from the pole and it has had campers a few times over the years.

No one was there as of yesterday afternoon. So all of this “you can’t get anyone to move” nonsense is just that. I dearly wish people spent as much energy working for affordable housing and job services as they do complaining about people experiencing homelessness.

Hey, @giglsmith, why did you perceive what I said as an attack on you? If you are working to help people, good for you. What I was referring to, when you told me to stfu, was the numerous people who dehumanize folks living without homes who do nothing to help.

    @giglsmith: Lighten up, Francis!

I, and everyone else here, don’t owe you an explanation for anything. That you choose to help out is lovely but, given your posts in this thread, it seems that it’s so you can climb up on a great big cross and alternately whine about how you do so much and excoriate those who complain about it. Guess what, I get to complain about it without doing a thing. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion and they aren’t required to earn your nod.

Your high and mighty thin-skinned cross climbing self can suffer my own slings and arrows. Put up or shut up, sweetpea.

name calling or telling people to STFU is against forum policy..
if you don’t like what someone said.. call them out on what they said..
but don’t call them names or tell them to shut up.

i agree with melissa… there is far too much name calling done.. and right now i am speaking of those who find themselves without homes and without hope. too often find myself ashamed at the self righteousness of our community..

and before you ask.. i will gladly stack my record for doing something about the problem up against yours any time..

and yes i know all about what happens to needles and excrement when safe public options aren’t available.

the point is that we would be better served providing safe options than denigrating those who have none.

My original post offering assistance to the person that asked in the form of links and advice based on my experience disappeared – it sparked my anger that a person made an assumption that seemed directed at me based on my offering solutions and in no way making any disparaging comments about homeless people. So the context of my responses is lost.

But on that note I resorted to anger first so sorry for being a d-bag, was having a bad day. . .

i have had more than one d-bag day myself… sometimes here ;)

thanks for reporting where to post complaints..
i just wish more people would open up their hearts and work harder towards prevention..
better and far more economical for us all..
imagine what the dollars now spent on clean up could do.

It’s said to read such news… Though there are certain ways to regulate such issues. Read more about it at this blog https://pro-papers.com/blog/homelessness-essay-writing-guide.
