Re: Skeets request for the “Trillion Dollar Bailout”.

Here’s a quote from Forbes back after the audit was released:

“The audit of the Fed’s emergency lending programs was scarcely reported by mainstream media – albeit the results are undoubtedly newsworthy. It is the first audit of the Fed in United States history since its beginnings in 1913. The findings verify that over $16 trillion was allocated to corporations and banks internationally, purportedly for “financial assistance” during and after the 2008 fiscal crisis.”

Some/most of this assistance was described generically as “zero interest loans” but nobody, and I mean nobody has bothered to track the status of said loans that the public has access to, anyway. Not without some other required audit that won’t ever come. The Fed’s been asked and they won’t say squat because the answer is already known. The money’s gone and it wasn’t really intended to come back. It was money used to prop up a crumbling system.

Several trillion of it went to banks in Scotland and Korea and all over creation, which lends one to ask the question, why are American dollars being given away to prop up other nation’s banks? The answer to that leads you to a simple conclusion – To Big To Fail is universal and we’re just a piggy bank to be broken and raided when needed.

I also vote for Amy’s – unfortunately I can never make an appointment so appreciate they take walk-ins and often I have to try 2 or three times because they are booked.

blbl: yeah, from what I can see they do autoclave their instruments and use a fresh pack on each client. They also wear gloves. And they line the pedicure bowl with a plastic insert brand-new for each client. It is one of the reasons I go there – I have been to too many other places that are Fo & dirty (& of course don’t stay).

blbl, and other engineers who read this site: I am not to be taken literally as I frequently run to hyperbole. No, I do not think we should ban people from the market. That would be silly as the whole point of the market is to cater to people. I think people should be made to wear alpha-ray suits and be hosed down before entering the market.

blbl… did you report the dog licking to the “farmer” at the stand so they could remove the affected fruit and ask the dog owner to step away? I don’t think it’s fair to other stand owners to have to lose your business because of one irresponsible dog owner who wouldn’t control their dog. I frequent that Market and haven’t seen any problems with dogs there… so far.

blbl- nothing I wrote violated site rules. It wasn’t an attack on someone, just what they said.

    .

I hate to feed a troll such as yourself but I will clarify the relationship these two geese have with Lincoln Park. They are not random fowl descending upon a man made path to poop on your hot dogs and ruin your family outing… These are long time residents of LP who have been victim to many human pet shenanigans. They LIVE there. And for folks to go out of there way to make their pet attack them? Disgusting.

    .

Give me your best shot on why this is a proper practice and why the dogs owners should be applauded. C’mon… Bring it.

I really can’t believe this one, even with how vocal he has always been about his depression and his substance abuse. It just seemed like if he’d made it this long that he was in it for the long haul, but we never really know do we? He has long been my favorite actor for so many reasons and his Live At The Met album was a huge inspiration for me, especially when it came to doing comedy myself.

I know TR usually posts this when stories like this come up, but it’s never too early to remind people about the National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-8255. Keep it programmed in your phone… you never know when you might be in the right place to help someone.

Met Market and PCC are our regular quick-stop spots; Seattle Fish some of the time (and yes on getting more unusual stuff there), Costco also for great deals on seasonal local stuff–we get Copper River there every year a few weeks after the big shipments arrive to much fanfare, they sell them whole but cleaned for something like $6.99/lb. Also got many pounds of mussels there, they would show up Friday and be sold out by Saturday. Loki at the Farmer’s Market is also great–those frozen fillets are flash frozen right on the boat, so they’re fresher, ultimately, than those at the fish-thrower stall at the Market, where at least some of the fish on display has been defrosted.

I’ve picked up some sockeye salmon at the counter at Metropolitan Market and then some crab cakes at West Seattle Fish Company. In both cases, they were priced well ($6/cake & ~$18/lb salmon) and were delicious once cooked.

there’s a comedian named Bobby Collins who used to do a routine about Eastern Airlines and lost luggage. The term he coined was ‘centrifugalbumblefu…dge’. He defined it as going in increasingly smaller concentric circles until you disappear up your own …

Oh, and if any of you try it yourself, there’s one very important thing to remember. The neutral wire needs to be the one connected to the outside of the light bulb holder. The hot wire goes to the “button” in the bottom of the socket that the tip of the bulb touches. Check this with a cheap continuity checker.

On the plug, neutral is the wide prong, hot is the narrow one.

If this doesn’t make sense, find someone (even me) to show you. Otherwise, you can get electrocuted. Please don’t do that!

Is anyone else missing a report card from their high school student at West Seattle High? Or did mine get to the mailbox before me? LOL!

I’ve heard from a couple other parents that they didn’t receive one, and one parent received their student’s with a second one belonging to another student in the envelope.
