We’ve mentioned this a few times recently in connection with the Seattle Parks development of the Junction landbanked site. This is another “landbanked” site to be developed in the future as a full-fledged park – West Seattle has three landbanked sites (the city bought the land before having $ for park development) in all, mapped here:
    http://www.seattle.gov/documents/departments/parkdistrict/projects/land_bank_sites.pdf

Some past stories/mentions about 48th and Charlestown:

West Seattle projects included in mayor’s first Parks District budget proposal

48th/Charlestown park purchase gets council committee OK

48th and Charlestown site makes list of final park-levy Opportunity Fund recommendations

No timetable for developing it as a park has been announced; I need to check with Parks one of these days. The third West Seattle landbanked site, the Morgan Junction Park expansion lot, is going into discussions soon.

I just wanted to let everyone know about a charity event we are having at my school, Northgate Elementary this year. I am collecting pre and post natal baby/maternity items for the families in my school and the community (including surrounding schools)..

We plan on having the event in December and any and all items are accepted at this point. The items we are looking for include but are not limited to: baby clothing, toys, books, maternity clothing, blankets, diapers, formula etc. All new and gently used items are accepted.

I live in West Seattle and can collect items then and we also have a youcaring. The link is: https://www.youcaring.com/expectingmothersandyoungfamilies-940313

Please let me know if you have any questions about this baby drive.

They’re taken for granted but those carts are not cheap. I don’t know about you, but shopping carts away from stores are a blight. Just for kicks, I filled out their contact/issue page and sent it along with the link to this article. I’ll see what happens (not holding my breath). It goes to Kroger Corporate in Cincinnati, Ohio.

We took it off our calendar because after we had one listed sometime this summer (July, I think) someone e-mailed to say that they showed up and found out they’re on hiatus until fall. The fall brochure (PDF below) does not have a start date. If you call and ask them, let us know what you find out.

Do you or anyone you know need short term housing? We will be out of town for 4-6 months (September/October-March/April) and are hoping to find someone to sublet to (landlord approved). Feel free to be in touch. Admiral/Belvedere 2bd/2bath home would be perfect for someone needing a spot during a remodel or for a family moving into the area while they look for a permanent home. Greetings,

I am writing on behalf of Sea Mar Community Health Centers to cordially invite you to participate in the 2017 Seattle Fiestas Patrias Parade!

Fiestas Patrias is an annual festival that commemorates the Independence Day celebrated in many Latin American countries. In the interest of celebrating Seattle’s diversity, we are inviting various businesses, organizations, clubs and entertainment groups to participate in the parade.

The parade will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 11am-1pm. The parade will start at our Sea Mar Community Care Center in South Park Seattle and will end at the South Park Community Center.

There will be food, music, dance, children’s games, and much, much more for everyone to enjoy. Your participation in the parade will help make this event a huge success.

You can see a photo gallery of last year’s parade here:
    https://westseattleblog.com/2016/09/photo-gallery-fiestas-patrias-parade-and-celebration-in-south-park/

Please let me know if you have a group or know of any groups/organizations that wants to participate walking in the parade. It will be a great way to get exposure for your organization and getting involved with the West & South Seattle community.

Participation in the parade is FREE! All you need to do is fill out a parade registration form. If you are an entertainment group, we will also have a stage after the parade if you want to do any performances.

We hope that you can all join us for this exciting event!

Hi, I bought this photograph of the Luna Park building (click on link to see picture) in 2014 on an art fair, probably in Alki. I’d d like to buy another one of the same series but I can’t find the artist online. The signature on the picture I have is not really legible. It’s something like “Froyda A. Hulge”. Can anyone point me to the artist, please? Thank you!
