As a Canvasser, you will be working to canvass and fundraise on behalf of our amazing non-profit partner Greenpeace USA. Neighbors…once again I’m reaching out as a volunteer on behalf of the West Seattle Clothesline (https://westseattlefoodbank.org/clothesline/). We’ve been seeing a gradual increase in the number of families stopping by and are currently averaging about 20 families/day! Since we want to make sure we have enough offerings to meet the needs of all our clients, please consider donating now! In particular, we are in desperate need of Men’s clothing, especially shirts (all types…dress, polo, tee), pants/shorts, sweatshirts/hoodies/sweaters, and shoes/sneakers. Additionally, we can use a new influx of bedding and towels.
As you consider donating items, please make sure your donations are in good shape (i.e. you would still wear or use…but perhaps don’t fit, have outgrown the style, or just cleaning out your closets)! It would be ideal if your donations were bagged in garbage/plastic bags that can be closed. This helps us keep them clean and dry.

Duties – The primary duties are to provide companionship/play, feed, clean boxes and light clean up if needed. Some cats will want to play, others cuddle and some may not wish to engage. The expectation while on the job is to read and follow detailed instructions from an APP on your phone, adapting to moving needs and situations, all while caring for the cat(s). Established in 2020 as a pop-up outlet, the location has exceeded expectations. Located in the same building as the original sew shop where the strap cap and other select products have been made since 1993. Job Duties:

The following stories were submitted by WSTL Members for a 2023 grant proposal:
“WSTL is a pillar for our community, providing not only the tools, but sharing the
knowledge necessary to complete the tasks.”“Sharing tools with neighbors helps me feel like I’m in a supportive community where people care about one another and where we do things together.”
“The first 6 months of being homeowners we were fortunate to have utilized the tool library at least every other week. The staff were so helpful, friendly and we were able to meet neighbors during drop-off and pick-up. This is one of the best resources West Seattle has to offer to its community.”
“Some of the first friendly faces I met in West Seattle were at the tool library! As a brown woman folks often do not expect me to be able to fix things around the house myself. The volunteers at the tool library treated me with respect. Successfully executing these house projects gave me a lot of confidence in my own abilities and pride in my home which allowed me to be a more engaged neighbor.”
“I love the WSTL so much. It teaches repair, it makes woodworking and building accessible to a much wider group. …WSTL also aims to inspire people to participate in community projects such as park restorations and pursue sustainability through fun projects like backyard gardens, home energy improvements, water harvesting, and other environmental projects.”
“In our family, WSTL has been an invaluable resource. When we bought our house, it needed many repairs, but hiring professional contractors would have stretched our budget too thin. Instead, we turned to WSTL, where we were able to borrow all the tools we needed, from power drills to ladders. Furthermore, WSTL’s workshops and educational resources empowered us to tackle these repairs ourselves, helping us to save a significant amount of money while also gaining new skills.”
