Weird. I called 911 on one I saw blowing through stop signs on Delridge, but nothing came of it. I only saw one but it was going really fast through residential areas.

    Dear Councilperson Herbold,

I am writing to ask for your help. I often take my dogs to a nearby school to let them run around a bit, but lately I’ve been the victim of serious harassment. Someone actually came right up to me and asked me to leave–something about how my dogs should be leashed, how they’re not allowed on school grounds, blah blah blah. Well! I have never felt more personally attacked! This bully was very threatening!

I tried the typical Seattle move of just ignoring them, but then they TOOK MY PICTURE! I am writing you because the police just laughed at me when I tried to get this bully arrested for talking to me and taking my picture. I just want to be able to let my little doggies run around off-leash without anyone calling me out for my illegal and anti-social behavior!

    Please help, pretty please.

If you’re being harassed/threatened by people allegedly carrying mace and tasers, and/or you’re witnessing it, you should probably be calling police first – not our councilperson, nor ranting on a local news site about it.

Do you mean the people who take pictures of your illegal off-leash/no scooping behaviors, and carry pepper spray as protection against a possible dog attack – or, just as likely, an attack by a rabid, libertarian dog owner? This behavior is neither dangerous nor illegal; yours is both. You know full well that nobody hates your dog, and your rant should be directed at a mirror.

Please note some of the rules of posting jobs:

*THIS IS FOR WEST SEATTLE/WHITE CENTER/SOUTH PARK EMPLOYERS ONLY. We know people from West Seattle work all over the region. But because we are offering this as a FREE service (while others charge for job listings), we must keep it to LOCAL employers only.

*NO “BLIND” ADS. Please include your business’s name, and a contact name/e-mail (and/or phone number) in the listing. Job-seekers need to be able to connect with you directly, not just post a reply for all the world to see.

    _———–
I know your 310 area code doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not in Seattle, now that cell phones are everywhere, but you do need to post your name and the business name, and confirm that you are local to this area.

I am curious why you are not willing to share specifics about the job opening. How many hours per week? Are the hours set or is there a need to be flexible? Monday-Friday? Or also weekends? Do you offer benefits? Independent contractor or employee? Being clear about what you need, and will offer in exchange, will save time for everyone. Unless you don’t want people to know?

I’m looking for someone with a flexible schedule that lives in the West Seattle Junction area that can clean a two bedroom Airbnb as needed. The pay is $40 per cleaning. The workload varies depending on our travel schedule, as we usually clean it ourselves if we are here. The cleaning times usually need to be done mid-day between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and could be any day of the week, depending on the booking. Cleaning the apartment can take as little as 30 minutes, or up to an hour, depending on how long the guests have been there, and how much the apartment has been used. In some instances only one bed is slept in, they are rarely there out sight-seeing. Cleaning usually involves making one or two beds, wiping down a few glass table, cleaning a very small mini-kitchen if needed (no stove, just a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and fridge), cleaning a bathroom, vacuuming, and straightening everything up for the next guest. I supply all of the cleaning materials. If you have a flexible schedule (someone retired or with an evening job looking for extra income for instance), live in the area, and are interested in taking this on, please email me with some background information about yourself. Also please verify that you live in the West Seattle area. Thank you.

There could also be some support tasks related to our social media presence.

Some Benefits of Working at Ritrovo

Semi-regular happy hour at the end of the day on Friday: Company has a sparkling wine subscription.

Convenient location: We are located near the 1st Avenue S bridge. There is a bus stop about ½ mile away. DO NOT APPLY IN PERSON!

    Wages
Wages vary depending on experience, skill set, and whether you choose to participate in the health insurance plan. Starting hourly wage range is $17.50 – 19.00.

Al (almco@aol.com) has been helping us with our yard for several years. He is not afraid to dig in to a difficult job (recently removed and uprooted a large mass of ivy that was swallowing a fence and large tree) or even help relocate large amounts of mulch.
He’s very careful not to remove anything you might want to keep while weeding so it’s important to go over a job thoroughly before he gets started.
Nice local West Seattle guy if you need help with yard work.

I’m in my 50s, use a cane, and am a bit slow at checkout sometimes because I have MS and spinal arthritis. I also use a food stamp card. I’m white, chubby, and also wear hoodies to cover my bedhead – and I have been targeted several times by a specific woman who mans the self-service checkout line.

She hovers over me and squawks out “you need to remove what you didn’t scan from your bag!” when the scale is trying to catch up to the register part. I get confused about an item and use the picture menu and she barks out “you need to scan it again before you put it in the bag!”

She has gone so far as to check my bags AFTER checkout and my basket. I dropped my cane one day and she just looked at me. I slowly managed to pick it up and I said “thanks for your help” and she just smirked at me like I was faking it. She has ALSO hovered over me with a particular security guard there and commented loudly as she has above a few times. The guard now lingers around me when I am checking out, even when I use the regular checkouts with attendants, and I am furious.

She’s tall and big and intimidating especially to someone who is confused some days and learning to manage life with MS flares and chronic pain. I always get decent service and she is the outlier as is her stumpy security cohort. I have to shop this week there and my son and I are going to file a complaint of some type because I am exhausted from her assuming I am stealing. I hope you do, too, if you haven’t already.
