May seem like a little thing, but it’s those little things that accumulate to drive us crazy on top of all the other daily stresses. I’m not a fan for all the reasons PatWS and anonyme stated. Also for the fact that it’s literally SH*T. It’s nasty. The wind storm knocked my bins over, the lids blew open so they filled with water. I had to dump them out and replace the garbage bags – if I would have encountered a floating bag of dog feces…gag. Maybe some people are cool with it. Bravo to them. Yes, I’m glad they picked it up off the ground so I don’t step on it but if it belongs to your dog, it belongs to you – don’t bring it into my life in any way, shape or form.

Oh no! The Danny Munoz I know and I know his customers has NEVER charged up front, that is completely false. The comments of dissatisfation on his work are also quite vague. Danny is the type that if you arent happy he will get the job done until you are. Communication is key here as Danny has been a lifetime West Seattle resident and has dozens and dozens of longterm happy customers, customers who communication with him about the work and have a mutual understanding of what is to be done. I am also witness to Danny being reliable. He always answers his phone and returns calls promptly. He works folks into his schedule as they come up and he always follows through. Im sorry for the unhappy service you feel you received, perhaps there was a misunderstanding. Danny always wants to make things right. It surprises me he wasnt given the opportunity to provide the top service he gives all his customers.

I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I wanted to share my feelings, my rage and disgust, with what’s going on in this once-great nation. How do you, my West Seattle neighbors, feel? What are you doing about all this?

    1. The House passes the tRump Tax Scam, a cruel, illogical plan that will NOT benefit the middle class, only the very rich.
Increases the deficit by almost $2 TRILLION.
Immediately cuts Medicare by $25 billion.
Sets up future trillion dollar cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to pay for the tax cuts and fix the deficit.
Ends the medical expense deduction – hurting at least 4.5 million people with incomes less than $75,000.
Increases taxes for 47% of families with children.
    2. The massive Keystone oil leak. I hate to say “told ya so!” because this is truly a disaster that could have been prevented if the government had put people (and the environment) over pollution and profiteers.
    3. Trump lifts ban on “trophy” elephant imports. Remember his darling sons murdered endangered species in Africa? How “manly”! Well, I guess Trump likes trophies; after all, he has a trophy wife (who is getting near her sell-by date by trump’s standards and who, sadly, has the dead eyes of a blow-up doll).
Yes, I have made calls, signed petitions, and sent emails. We all have to keep up the pressure. I am proud to have Jayapal, Murray, and Cantwell represent me, but we can’t just sit back and let them do the heavy lifting.

@2muchwhine…it seems that your words to what you have just said to beanbag are pretty much what beanbag had done to Katherine and MIWS. “The internet is a great invention but it is not very good at revealing the true character or motives of anyone that posts. Subtle humor or sarcasm can easily be misconstrued”
But yes you then acknowledged beanbags apology…kind of like scolding a child for doing something wrong and then the next minute giving them a hug.!!!

bean.bag., I know you’ve already apologized so this post is rather pointless BUT I read this yesterday and it bothered me enough to where I just hunted around for 10 minutes to find this thread again and respond.

It is apparent to me that you have never met Mike In West Seattle (MIWS). He is far from high and mighty. He is a great guy and if you ever get a chance to know him you will find it hard to disagree. The internet is a great invention but it is not very good at revealing the true character or motives of anyone that posts. Subtle humor or sarcasm can easily be misconstrued.

With that being said, it’s rare that someone would actually retract a statement and accept responsibility for it. My hat is off to you, bean.bag. – and to the other folks that defended MIWS. I am proud to be part of this community.

Ladyblahblah, got the leaves. Thank you.

sbre, I do have some bags I’d be happy to leave for you. They may be a little dusty. :-) Let me know when you have leaves ready.

beanbag, your post made me smile. I remember a couple of times I did go up to people and ask to rake their yards. Their faces were a picture. That was years ago when I was young and strong. I’m now 74 and in poor health. What usually happens is that someone on the blog tells me, “I have bags of clean leaves at X place. If you get there before the truck, you’re welcome to them.” They get rid of their leaves either way, the yard waste people are saved picking them up, and my garden is more fertile next summer. Everybody wins.

I second grog’s evaluation of miws. Mike is a kind man and can be very witty in his posts.

Join us for our next meeting on JANUARY 8 at 7PM at the Uptown Espresso on Delridge. We will be discussing the book we were supposed to discuss on Monday, Circling the Sun, along with 2 other books, “The Resurrection of Joan Ashby” and The American War. Hi Katherine,
I have 10 bags of bagged leaves that I set out to be picked up on Monday morning and I just noticed that they’re still there in the alley. You are welcome to them – the bags are wet, but seem to be holding up well. They are in the alley between California Avenue and 44th Avenue, between Andover and Charlestown. East side of the alley, closer to the Charlestown end. Please help yourself to them.

beanbag, Katherine has asked for bagged leaves here in the past and has been successful in getting some. Although she is able to pick up bagged leaves, I believe she may have some difficulty in bagging them up herself.

Port of Seattle is using a Vibro hammar to loosed and remove 2000 pilings between now and 3/18 and are working at night at the north end of Terminal 5 so I think this is the source of the problem. What to do about it is another thing! Geri

I did find a workaround, though I don’t think it’ll last long, in case anyone else is looking for something like this. The 99 was apparently rerouted because of some other project, which has now been postponed. So the 99 is going down First again for now, and I can take it to First and University and catch a 125, and take that to 3rd and Seneca where I can catch a C, 55 or 21 (all the West Seattle buses go there right now).

Originally the 99 was going to keep going down First to Belltown until the March schedule changes. Then last week they switched it to 3rd. So I don’t know exactly why they changed it and then changed it back. I will be very surprised if it continues on First after a couple weeks or so.

Why, oh why, did you resurrect a thread from 7 YEARS AGO?!

I can’t believe that I’m going to engage in this; Forensics, you make a great many assumptions that are not evidence based, but are based on what you think would be normal behavior. Memory, especially 36 years after the fact, is fallible.

I won’t speak to the credibility of the witness as I refuse to research this, but to try to rehash a crime that has gone unsolved this long just spinning your wheels.

UC-Booker seems confused on many details. It is sort of odd that someone who saw such a scene would be completely fine within a week, when it takes hardened detectives years to escape seeing scenes like that one. While everyone processes trauma differently, to be a young kid, come upon THAT horrific scene early in the morning, I would think it would take years to overcome…not a few nights.

How on earth did the “paperboy” know Ruzicka came back every 2-3 days to rape a deceased victim? I think BOOKER is confusing Ted Bundy and Jim Ruzicka. There was no evidence that any necrophilia ever took place and her body was so decomposed that it would have been impossible to tell, especially from the scene. It was never addressed in court so again, the facts are wrong.

While his detailed story on here in 2010 was 7 years ago, I would love to have a response to my two posts by this alleged “paperboy.” Maybe he did find her, but with so many incorrect responses to the facts, it does have me questioning how, why and when all of this occurred in his eyes.

Again, she was NEVER undressed at the scene. If you saw the crime scene photos, this would prove this to be true. The coroner would remove the clothes so as not to disturb vital information that untrained detectives might accidentally do. She was brought the coroner’s office as she was found, fully clothed, with the rope still around her neck. This is called “preserving evidence.”

If you removed clothing, not only do you tamper with evidence collection, you can compromise it fully. Cross contamination, fingerprints, hairs, dirt, etc. could get on the clothes. Did they decide to fully redress the victim for the autopsy?

The paperboy story seems weird to me. Not only does he recount specific details, but factually they are incorrect. Penny was not undressed by detectives at the scene of the crime, she was fully clothed when she was brought to the coroner. You would not undress a victim for 1000 reasons at the scene of the crime, even back in 1974 which brings me to point #2.

The “paperboy” says he found her body in 1973. Her body was found in 1974 – how would you not remember this? Additionally, her stated age was incorrect. She was not 14 or 15, rather was exactly 15 years of age. After 30 years, you would think if you found a murder victim of such infamy in WA state, you would know these details as if tattooed onto your hand.

Why did he walk so far down into the woods to urinate? The woods were desolate and you did not have to go but 10 steps to avoid the public. Her body would not have been found unless you went quite far into the woods.

It is not that his story is entirely unbelievable, but the facts are all wrong. Are you saying they undressed her, you saw burn marks and teeth marks – from what distance? How were you able to determine what these marks were from such a distance or did the police let you hang out for their investigation? Again, neither bite marks nor burm marks were present on her body at the scene, she remained FULLY CLOTHED until reaching the coroner’s office.

Something is amiss with his story.
